2014 Was a very disappointing year for games with very few good games coming out and the games that were supposed to be good that came out ended up being utter crap. That's just the way it is these days as the AAA industry seems hell-bent on chasing the almighty dollar straight off a cliff, leading to another inevitable gaming crash. But from the ashes of the crash back in the 80's we got all new and amazing stuff. So yeah, it's about time we have another purging fire in the gaming industry and we'll be better for it.

In the mean time, the best advice that I can give is pick and choose what games you pick up carefully. For instance......why did you bother getting DA:I if you already know that you're not into fantasy games/settings? Seems like an utter waste if you ask me. :p

It sounds like you play nothing but new releases, you should try playing some older games that you missed when they were new. There are so many great games out there that offer experiences completely unlike what you'll find on your xbone. Like Nethack! An old roguelike with very little in the graphics department but that offers so much depth that it coined the phrase the dev team thinks of everything [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheDevTeamThinksOfEverything]. Plus, I find the permadeath makes the winning round incredibly intense as well as offering good challenge.

My problem with gaming is that these days I spend much more time reading about games and opinions on games than I actually spend playing games.

Honestly, I fucking love games, but I may play three in a year. It took me a full year to play Persona 3. I buy a handful of games a year, because, honestly, I just don'thave time. I read, I write, I've got school, I've got work... it's crazy. This year I will buy Bloodborne and Persona 5, and I may play The Witcher or Final Fantasy type o.

I recommend taking new hobbies. Read some books. Watch some anime. Join a club or group. It's good to have multiple sources of entertainment. I've been burned out on games before, it's fine. Just take a break my friend.

I thought I was going through the same thing recently; but I realized I wasn't bored with video games, I was bored with current video games. If there are any games you've always wanted to check out, try doing it now. Games tend to follow trends, like any art form, and sticking to a couple of specific generations for too long starts to feel stale. I found that a lot of old games felt pretty fresh to me when I went back and finally played them.

The only 2 games I've played in the last six months are AC: Rouge (not bad, few bugs, but the sailings still fun) And DA: Inquisition (Yet to finish)

I too am disheartened by gaming, but instead of forcing myself to re-play games that I still love but have played countless times, I've stepped away from the hobby and got back into writing and art.

Who knows, maybe in six months I'll be sick of that and go back to gaming.

When I was at my lowest I played Yakuza 3 and got it back so if I had to give anyone advice from personal experience it'd be that.

Wow...this is like the one thing I'm most afraid of. Actually getting bored of games, hasn't even come across my mind and I'm recently become 32. In fact, one of my fears of dying is not being able to see further into the advancement of games technology. Somehow, I've never gotten bored of games but I think that's because I've always had so much other things going on. Apart from a 10 hour/day job, I play the drums and guitar, I hang out with friends average twice a week, exercise consistently (try to do it outdoors rather than on a hamster wheel er, I mean treadmill), and my wife has a large family with drags me out frequently on regular occasions. So I still relish every single minute I get to sit down and play these days.

I used to love tinkering on my systems, modding games and optimizing the experience, but nowadays I'm just so impatient to fire it up and get stuck into whatever it is I'm playing.

So what I'm trying to say is, I guess in the same vein as other people, is the more other stuff you have going on, the more appreciative you become of the games. Yes, I also read books, comics, and watch shows and movies among all of that, sometimes I wish there were 48 hours in a day...(and that still wouldn't be enough!)

I'm 27 and in a similar situation. And as others said, you've probably burned out for a bit. Too much of anything and you get bored eventually. Take a break for a few weeks, and eventually that urge to play games will come back.

It seems your problem is you play only "mainstream" Videogames.
Don't be surprised, but I didn't played NONE of them from your list, the PC Versions I mean.
Reason? They take so damn long to complete and I will admit I am impatient if I play the same game for very long time.
Try a play some Indie games like......in the lists I created for myself:

Please, don't die trying to play all of them...

Like most I see two options here:
1. Take a short break from gaming. Try something else. Go read a book, take up knitting, try a new sport - just do something else until you get the urge to game again. There's no shame in taking a break, especially if you want to avoid a full burn-out that will leave you hating games.

2. Play something entirely different. This doesn't have to cost much. There are plenty of games available on Steam and GOG that run on even the slowest systems. For instance, you've developed a taste for adventure games but don't want to binge play the Telltale series. That's smart. Now, how about we help you want an older adventure game you might like? I think you may like I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/127469-Good-Old-Reviews-I-Have-No-Mouth-and-I-Must-Scream]. Post-apocalyptic adventuregame about a super computer gone mad and his victims (who are mostly horrible people) trying to beat him at his own games.

Or just pick up something that you'd never play otherwise. Maybe a cute time-waster like Cat Goes Fishing (title says it all) or Recettear (manage an item shop, sell you wares to adventurers and hire them to fight their way through dungeons so you can stock your store with cool stuff.).

Oh that boat, I know it well. I actually think Xbox One owners have been getting a better deal then PS4 users. Had fun with Sunset Overdrive at PaxAus and I love Insominacs (good) stuff, but never got the chance to play the full thing. Then there's Ori and teh Blind Forest coming out in March, a game I say with no hint of hesitation, in that it is beautiful. If it wasn't also coming out on Steam I'd be in tears/rolling around on the floor groaning and mumbling curses at Microsoft.

But yeah for the most part the oncoming year is very heavy with the "Meh's" and I've got Alien Isolation, GTAV Remastered, Wolfenstein, Dragon Age and Destiny in the backlog and I don't even feel like playing them at all.
I only feel compeled to play them because of buyers remorse.

If my buddy stopped playing Warframe I'd probably give up games all together these days. Just so bored, been here, done that. Sucks even more when 'Multiplayer is teh future, single player is dead' seems to be the MO of most big pubs these days.

I should get back into drawing titties again. Haven't drawn them in a while. Honest.

Breaking out of any molds tends to help. I go through "genre phases". I absolutely love RPGs, of pretty much any type, JRPGs, action RPGs, open world sandbox RPGs, indie made RPGMaker RPGs, Tactical RPGs, other game genres with RPG elements.

That being said, sometimes I just don't feel like playing ANY RPGs at all, and the very idea of micromanaging some fool avatar's inventory just makes me want to cry.

So I'll go pick up an adventure game... unless I feel more in the mood for gameplay over story...

Well then let's try a Strategy Wargame! Unless that's too much of a learning curve and too much thinking to get into...

Then let's just throw in a good ol' hack n slash action game and wail on enemies for a few good hours, but maybe I tire of how easy it is...

Time for a rogue-like survival game! Something with permadeath... something challenging... unless it's too challenging then...

I'll tone it down with a nice RPG... we've come full circle!

I can easily get burnt out on a game genre, or usually several at once, but there's usually always SOMETHING I will want to play. Hell I have over 400 games in my steam library and I still throw down a game of Windows solitaire sometimes!

Just try something new and different until something clicks.

I recommend a Wii U, and more specifically so you can play the Metroid Prime: Trilogy due to come out by the end of the month. Granted its a re-release, but Metroid: Prime is rated by IGN as one of the greatest games of all time. There's lots of other fun games too. If you're bored with current video games, now is the perfect time to give Nintendo a shot.

We game to be happy. If gaming isn't making you happy do something else. When you want to play games again, do so.

If you're just bored and nothing new looks good, well that's a good time for some retro titles picked up on the cheap.

Read a few books. I'm roughly in the same social situation to you and experience similar burnouts. I take a break, watch Some shows, read a bit then go back and play something when i really want to.

I dove into some multiplayer games, and have been playing games with friends. It really does shake things up. I had a blast replaying Half Life with the co op mods.

Depth has been loads of fun with friends that we play a few rounds a couple times a week.

I'm not saying adding people will automatically make it more fun, but getting a few friends who are really passionate about games may reinvigorate your interest.

It doesn't help that most of the big games seem to be copying each other and even themselves for the sake of sales.

I made it to 39 before... maybe it's the current climate of video games. Nah, even games and game types I used to enjoy I don't anymore. I am barely getting by on War Thunder, a (mostly) WWII flight sim online game.

I am REALLY looking forward to Star Wars Battlefront III. Maybe that will break me out of my video game funk.
