Let us face facts boys and girls, every time you buy a CD, iTunes,etc that money goes straight to the recording label, where the artist gets maybe 2-5% royalties (this number can change based on how "big" the artist is, meaning Metallica,and other bigger names get more for royalties). Artists really make money from touring,shows,etc. So if you really want to support a band attend a concert, buy merchandise from the concert, because honestly that cd purchase is almost meaningless.

My brother insults me for liking anime. I usually turn it around on him by saying that me watching anime is absolutely no different to him watching American animation such as Family Guy, which he loves (we're British), except for the art style and the language (and I tend to watch dubs anyway ).

Maybe it's just the region I'm in, but I didn't think "Oh, Sleeper" was a mid-range band. I kind of figured they were actually quite popular...

Personally I'm wondering how they've managed to get as popular as they have. They sound awfully generic with absolutely no unique features to speak of residing in a genre full of such bands.

The shit thing is that the people that have "worked their asses off" still only see a tiny fraction of the money you spend. If they're a small band they might only see like 1% of the cost of the album. I really hate the fact that almost all of it goes towards the label and the producers rather than the artists. Its bullshit. Because you're right, they should get rewarded for working their asses off but in typical capitalist fashion the big businessmen use their magic to make all of the money disappear before it can reach the hands of the people that do the real work.

As for music, I not only buy music but, I buy all of my music on disc format. I have yet to purchase digital music. I'll buy the disc, rip it onto my computer and transfer my new songs onto my Zune.

Bearing in mind the two people who did so were watching oh-so-hilarious clips of Family Guy and skateboarders falling down.
