I get why Dragon Age 2 gets lousy user reviews.

8+ hours in and I have no idea what you're talking about. Nothing like what your are saying has happened.

My only complaint is that there isn't as much character development in the allies because I have to go through a load screen to see each one.
I thought that a first to.

It gets a lot better after the deep roads expedition.
It gets BETTER?
Wow, I'm 12 hours in and just about to start that and I am absolutely loving this game (first Bioware RPG I've ever owned) on normal difficulty.
The combat style is keeping me engaged. I'd rather take Dynasty Warriors + special abilities over WoW wait-to-die + hotkeys any day.
I'm loving the dialogue and I really have to think about most dialogue choices.
Sure there have been some graphical glitches but they are few and far between.
Seriously, any troll too scared about the changes in this game can come talk to me. I'll defend this game to the end.
Well damn, son, just wait till you get to the companion quests

Lately, Dragon Age 2 have recieved decent reviews by critics, but the players butcher it. I have played the game for a couple of hours and I get why.
IT'S BROKEN!
And I don't mean like poor gameplay, I mean that it is so buggy it's hard to play. Melee-characters that isn't controled by the player dosen't move. Ranged charcters don't shoot. The only character that does something is the one the player is using. This is a flaw that shouldn't exist. Even if they fix this and several other bugs, no game should be released in an unplayable state.
That's at least my thory on why they get lousy reviews.
Also Bioware has recieved tons of complains about this, but have still to fix it.
Out of curiosity, which system do you have it for?

I think players (at least those on the PC) are more pissed about streamlining and simplification than anything else.

The only glitch I've had is where my charecter does not attack at all, I keep pressing the a button but he just wings his weapons while the enemy just beats the crap out of him -w-

I've only played the demo, which at first felt wierd because of how different it was, but then I got used to it and thought it was pretty awsome. It'l probably be the next game i get once i have the money.

Dragon age 2 had glitches? im not being sarcastic i didnt see a single bug. the game crashed on my laptop once but that wasnt the games fault that was pilot error because i was running alot of stuff in the background. seriously not a single bug or error did plague my play experience and once again my love for bioware is shown for such a game. and yeah i love bioware. im not gonna say they can never do wrong but iv found that almost every game they played made me glad i paid for it

And besides, think that's bad? Just think of New Vegas when it was released.
Which raises another problem... why wasn't New Vegas panned as awful by the overwhelming majority upon release, while DA2 was, if the OP is right?
actually i remember a couple of threads where there was ridiculous anti obsidian nazi's going around saying how bad the game is when it came out. and with those reviews on DA2 that gave it basically 0's across the board, that was day one bombardment, which i'm fine with someone not liking the game, but with that many scores going across the screen with all those 0's i'm pretty sure that was some hard trolling when critics were giving it some pretty good scores with actual REASONS behind their scores.

I wonder if the OP will ever come back to this thread.

I'm guessing no.
Oh, good! Let's talk about him behind his back!
You read my mind! I heard he used to buy boatloads of shrimp and just bask in them. What a freak, right?

It sounds like you may have pushed "H" accidentally, and ordered your party to hold position, that would make them just stand there and do nothing if they're not in range of an enemy.

Oh, really? I heard his mother was a hamster and his father smelled of elderberries.

Errrm... Actually New Vegas WAS panned and hated about the same way or worse until the bug fixes started coming through. Now lots of people like it and everyone seems to forget how much they said it sucked.

I'm sorry, upon rereading my post I guess I should have worded what I said more carefully. I didn't mean that the game was bad or that the reviews were properly done, just that dismissing out of hand the idea that a negative review on day one [i/]could[/i] be an entirely valid reflection of the game's quality seems silly to me. If he had said to begin with that he was talking about scores on Metacritic I wouldn't even have commented at all, since I fully support completely ignoring anything that site has to say at all times.

Again, I was commenting on the principle, not on this particular case. I really don't care at all about Dragon Age, I just check topics about it occasionally because I have a friend who's crazy about it.

I've played it for about 13 hours and I haven't encountered a single bug yet. That's the joy of PC gaming, its like playing Russian roulette.

To OP:

As others here have mentioned already you probably have your characters on hold (H button), and/or haven't assigned any Tactics.

To ppl on thread:

Since OP has yet to answer (i checked the thread), i think we can assume it's either an embarrassing mistake, or an annoying troll who's enjoying four pages of ppl discussing a false claim as if it were true.

I'm new to video games, I only bought an Xbox 2 months ago... but I have been playing DA2 for 3 days. While I'm grateful for the money and power glitch, the other bugs are horrible.

Mostly my character, a rouge, gets stuck in a position where she seems to be holding weapons, even when she's not. This happened after I play with the weapons while running and not fighting. And then when in battle, she can't move. A mission where the elf was suppose to go, I forgot him, and he was speaking without being present. Several occasions there are marking points when there is no one there, or the mission is done, or the person is dead.

Perhaps I'm coming into these bugs because I stray so far off of what I should be doing, I am no expert, but it makes me never want to get a game new again.

And yeah... I definitely prefer Origins. Besides the set-up, I can't stand any of my companions.
