I hope your boss REALLY likes you 'cos a future employer might not be so humorous.

Good on ya for not inflicting a child with that name but get used to the question "is that your real name?" 'cos Guybrush sounds like the newest Muppet, if I'm honest.

The way I see it, you're not harming anybody but potentially yourself so go nuts. I have to ask though, if you were female would you have chosen "princess Consuela banana hammock"?
I Would have given it thought, would have probably changed my name to Elaine Marley if I were a women.
Wait, crazy name as a guy but average if you were a woman? What gives?

I guess it's better than getting a neck tattoo; at least this is easily reversable.

Personally I'd have gone with Farraday de Havilland. It's both musical AND poncy.

I guess its cause I'm not a woman, not given it as much thought. Would also add two awesome nicknames into Elaine Marley, to jazz it up.

I think it's great. There are lots of nicknames you can choose so as never to get bored. I do think itll be funny when people start calling out your new name and you don't answer as you're distracted, though. Or you answer to Edward still.

I've never changed my name, but I do have a twin, so I've always answered to two names and also react when I hear my sister's name as well. My cousin changed his last name to no longer be conntected to his father at all (messed up family), as did his older brother, so it's not that uncommon to me.

It'll take some getting used to, though.

Will you be going with Guy as a short name? And will it be the French Guy(Ghee), or the English Guy(Guhy)?

So your first name is now "Guybrush"? That's probably the second-gayest name possible, right after Biggus Dickus.
Lol, Monty Python FTW.

Why do people still use Gay as a negative term?

What makes it gay? The fact that Guy is one letter away from Gay?

If so, that's a pretty weak connection.

People are calling me all sorts of names, I'm not bothered really. The new people I meet will call me whatever they think is best and Ill still answer to Ed from my closest freinds for a while, but not Edward. I'm done with that name.

I'll be honest.

On one hand, I'm glad that you are happy with your new name and I hope you won't regret it in the future.

On the other, your new name is pretty stupid, I'm sorry. It would be a little bit better if you changed it to Guybrush Ulysses Golden Shower Jetpack Threepwood.

really? So you changed your name to... Guybrush Ulysses Oblong Threepwood. that name just sounds completely stupid but I am just some person on the internet so you most likely don't care what I think.
I was look for a gif to respond to this but I couldn't find one I liked.

Well, if it makes you feel more confidant as a person, all the more power to you man. I'm certain you'll catch some flak for your name in the future, but at the end of the day, you're the one who has to be comfortable in your body and living your life, not them.

Celebrate, and enjoy that shit man! I shall drink my water in hails to you!!

Elaine Marley is the wife of Guybrush Threepwood. Apparently OP has a serious hard-on for Monkey Island.

Ramsden was "far too British", so you change it to Threepwood, the name of the 9th Earl of Emsworth and his quintessentially British upper class family from P.G. Wodehouse novels?

That's like someone called Andrew Munro deciding his name is far too Scottish and changing it to Bagpipe McSporran.
Yes but Threepwood, while British. Isn't as common at Ramsden. I will no longer have to explain that I am no relation to Fish and Chips. Before everyone start saying "Oh you're gonna need to explain Guybrush Threepwood"

Most people, more everyday in fact, don't know who he is so wont even ask.

Plus, I wouldn't change my name if I wasn't prepared to explain it at least a bit.
See, I've been Mark Warburton for years, and often find that saying 'Same as the bread' makes it easier to spell, pronounce, or a humorous ice breaker.

Ever since I was very small, I wished my name was Cecil, after the dark knight who cast his ties to his kingdom and eventually became a paladin. You've inspired me. There is no room to change my last name as my wife already took mine and there would be some problems there.

Personally I would have gone with Beauregard May, and then busted my ass to become a Kentucky Colonel just so I could demand to be called Col. Beauregard May all the time. I would also affect a southern accent even though I'm Canadian. Still good on you, I feel that people should be free to do whatever makes them happy so long as they don't hurt anyone else.

What?

You grimace at your current name, but Guybrush Threepwood is fine? What's your current name? Stinky McButtsmear?

Excuse me, there's something I need to do.

Ha ha, hell yeah. Best GIF I've seen in a long time.

I used to be called Edward Ramsden. I hated my name, was far to British and I always hated the pronunciation.

Also, It was a perfect gift to the people I love and the games series that I adored growing up.
What i'd give to have had an upstanding British name like Edward Ramsden. Such a trustworthey name! And Ramsden is rare enough to be memorable in my work environment!

What did your parents think of the change?

I had a friend called Murray who lost a bet at Uni and changed his surname. He is now called Murray Christmas... Now nobody takes him seriously, he hasn't been able to get a decent job since uni...
