I suppose I should be fair and not place so much blame on the platform when there is equal blame to be spread to the devleopers. How the trend of checkpoint save systems caught on, I have no idea. All I know is that I grew up with PC games and consoles, but I later gravitated to the PC when consoles started to advance so rapidly that it became pointless to catch up. That particular system of saving a game did not find its way to PC games until recently, and I HATE it! Having played a lot of console games as well, I see where it comes from. It stems from the fact that many console games untilize the feature, and the developers that port the game just never bother to add anything new. It's just copy + paste to the PC, and that really irks me.SkarKrow said:I wish my PS3 would let me use my 320GB of hard drive space for more than fucking updates and let me save whenever I want. Save states are my friend, I need to invest some cash in my PC now that I have some cash flow again.tsb247 said:I am surrently playing through Metro 2033, and it is not what I expected at all. That's not to say that I do not enjoy it, but I was expecting a more open world as well.
I also HATE checkpoint save systems. They are the reason why I HATE consoles. They are used because of the limitations placed on consoles and the developers never bother to streamline for PC! PCs have ridiculous amounts of hard drive space! Let me use it dammit!
But yes, some friends of mine with PS3s wondered the same thing... Then they went and got X360s.
As for me, I dumped a lot of cash into a PC and I have never looked back.
