"Maybe he has a good reason to hate Ocarina of Time? Or maybe he just subjectively disliked some aspect of the gameplay or story?" I naïvely thought going into this thread.

Nope, just a frustated dude bitching and whining that the game is to hard. It's not even that hard! I was around 9 when I played it and while it wasn't a breeze, it wasn't frustating in a bad way.

Some people say games have gotten easier to the point where gamers have become a bunch of scrubs who might as well be watching a slideshow. I usually disagree. But stuff like this does make me wonder.

What? How can you hate such a game?

SSBB is my favorite game.
Well that explains a lot.

If you can't beat Ocarina of Time, a game I beat when I was like 6, you have problems worse then your favorite game being super smash brothers. Not much worse, but worse none the less.

That being said, I'm pretty sure you're just a shitty troll. I mean, nobody could be this ignorant without making an effort. But if you can, kudos to you.

The only thing I could infer from your post is that you suck at zelda. It's not even the puzzles you're stuck on, it's combat. I mean, there's literally two buttons and a stick. That's all there is to combat.
Although I agree with you I feel the need to correct you and say there's not 2 buttons and the stick for combat, it's 3 buttons the Targetting button (Z on N64, L on 3DS), the action button that let's jump (A you know backflips and that jump attack) and the attack button (B).
So, yeah...
Oh crap I forgot, if you have weapons on the C buttons (Like bombs, arrows. etc) there's actually 6!

You have all insulted my videogaming skills and challenged my opinion.
So why am I loling?
Cause you're an obvious troll who is very obvious?

Seriously dude, you're going to have to do better. I mean, no one takes an 11 year old seriously anyway, but just picking on a much lauded game and calling it terrible, while adding in the fact that you think it's too hard (obvious flame bait is obvious?)... not exactly high level troll material. Either just sit and play CoD with the rest of the kids, or wait until you at least hit puberty before posting on forums.
DIDN'T I SAY IN THE SECOND SENTENCE THAT MY THOUGHTS ON THIS GAME WERE 100% LEGITIMATE?

And also, for all of you asking why this game is the worst game I've ever played... I've never really played any BAD games, except for Super Mario 64 and LOS:TEN. OOT is worse than these games in my opinion, therefore it is the worst game I've ever played.
And again, why am I laughing at your comments?

Right, I'm leaving before any of you make me cry.
But before I do, I AM NOT TROLLING, I REALLY HATE THIS GAME!
How can you all miss a point I made in the very first paragraph?!

You're either A) 12 or B) a 13 year old troll.

Which is why I'm not going to say anything in regards to that message. You don't deserve to be responded to.

This is my first time playing this game. Which is why the flaws in this game have been found by my nostalgia-proof eyes.
Though you know, "Nostalgia Proof Eyes" doesn't really make your opinions any more valid. People can overcome Nostalgia with a bit of reflection on their favourite games and movies. Hell, I used to really like Super Mario World, but looking back at it now I can see that it's one of the most uninspired Mario Platformers ever created. What I think a lot of people don't understand about "being able to have a more accurate opinion about a game's flaws because I'm not fueled by nostalgia" is that if you were really open minded like you think you are, you wouldn't let a few badly designed parts of a game ruin the whole thing for you. Hell, I recently played Sonic Adventure for the first time, and while yeah Big's fishing is annoying and that completely broken sand level with Tails surfing through arches is crap, it's still a fun game despite its hiccups. Having "Nostalgia Proof Eyes" and being overly critical aren't the same thing.

I probably just contradicted my previous post, but oh well. :/

But people are just laughing at you because you failed at an extremely easy game, one of the easiest games on the N64 for sure anyway.

And no one has every lied on the internet before, especially not trolls pretending to not be trolls.

Not that I am saying you are, but just saying "I'm not a troll" doesn't make it so.

This is also an easy one. Even easier than OoT(ba-zing). You have a "controversial" opinion. You know you have a controversial opinion. And you came here to tell everyone your controversial opinion so you could laugh at their reactions.

You know what that's called? Trolling.

It wasn't really fantastic in the first place, it was just a half-decent game for a system with almost no decent games. Considering that was back when 3D games were brand new and the two sequels (Windwaker and Twilight Princess) got progressively much better I can't see why anyone would buy Ocarina of Time at this point in time. Nintendo is really out to lunch on the whole 3DS thing. The stupid gimmicks don't sell systems, software does.

P.S. You think this one's bad try the one with the annoying time cycle where you have to repeat things over and over again. Majora's Mask was it? I couldn't even sit through that entire game and I've beaten Star Ocean Til the End of Time and Star Ocean the Last Hope(why did I buy another?).

But this game is even worse because I was expecting the greatest game ever. Maybe the greatest game ever is hiding behind the Forest Temple, which contains a room with 3 skeleton sodiers that are ridiculously hard to defeat, you have to take them on at the same time, and if you take too long killing the last one, the first one you killed COMES BACK TO LIFE AND SLICES YOU OPEN WHILE YOU'RE TRYING TO KILL THIS LAST ONE. I mean, WHAT THE HELL?

If you've never played Ocarina of Time before, don't waste your money. It's a festering pile of rotten fruit glittered up with fancy 3D graphics. Do not play this game. You will just set yourself up for a kick in the balls.
Dude, you died on a hard part. MAN THE FUCK UP AND GET OVER IT.

Also, I know I'n going to get a suspension or something for this but...

I love Ocarina of Time a lot, and I know exactly why: because it's nostalgic. It was the first modern 3D game, and every other good game since then has incorporated some or most of its genius, so if you're used to playing modern games I completely understand your point of view. However, for those of us who's first 3D game was Ocarina, it just made a really good first impression on us, even if it isn't absolutely amazing by the standards of everything that's come out since then.

If you want to play a Zelda game with an engrossing epic story, characters, puzzles, etc, go play Majora's Mask. I hated Mask when it came out, but in the past few months I've gotten back into it, and it is incredible. A little buggy, but it's nice and difficult and the story and characters and music and atmosphere and mechanics and just everything is fantastic. Wind Waker is really good too.

Yes Zelda is bad. For one simple point: I'ts easy. Ridicolous easy. It's insulting anybodys intelligence.

Oh, and all the characters have the depth of a cardboard standup

You don't get it sir, it isn't the game. The game is pathetically easy, Play Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. That game is way "harder" than Ocarina of Time. It isn't that its hard, its that, honestly, you suck at these type of games.

But to address your expectations:
1. Engrossing Story: Ocarina has one of the weakest stories in the Zelda series. It is your typical "Save the Princess and world" schtick. You should've done research on the game, never go into something unprepared unless your willing to accept the consequences. The game is outclassed in story by Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, and even Twilight Princess.

2. Gripping Action: The game plays out with a reasonable combat system, you cannot be overly aggressive. That is why the Stalfos are kicking your ass, they are defensive. They are one of the stronger foes in the game. You need to think, don't be a single-minded child. This game, even while being one of the easier titles, is still held by the rules of the others: Strategy is key. The enemies, bosses, etc; they are puzzles too. Want to know what you did wrong fighting those Stalfos? You need to bomb their remains once you strike them thrice. Any time an enemy doesn't dissapear in smoke or such when struck enough times, that means you need to do something to seal the deal. When they revert to a pile, bomb it.

3. Fiendish puzzles: That is a laugh, Zelda, even in its better titles, was laughably weak in the puzzle department. Go play Silent Hill, that has difficulty levels for Puzzles. On Hard Mode, you need to know Shakespeare by heart to finish one of the first puzzles.

Ocarina of Time is hailed to be one of the best games ever, due to the era it came out in. In its time, such combat stylings and other game mechanics, were believed to be impossible. Since then, it has been improved on by many other games. Want an example? Legacy of Kain. It has one of the best stories in all of gaming, able to hold itself up to Literature classics in terms of quality. It had Grade A-quality Voice acting in 1996, back when Resident Evil 1 was slammering off "Jill Sandwhich" and shit. It has Zelda-esque gameplay, better polished, with puzzles that aren't hard and a story that will embed itself into your memory.

To put it bluntly: You expected "Grade A Quality" from a game that is essentially a revamped port with a few extra additions. This game is over 12 years old, of course it will pale in comparison to games like Ninja Gaiden Black (For Combat), Silent Hill (Puzzles and Story), etc.

Either you suck at Zelda games or your a troll, which I'm thinking is right due to you encouraging others to flame you or throw insults.

If you actually thought Super Mario 64 was bad (and that DEFINITELY seems to show proof of being a gamer who grew up with the Gamecube/PS2/Xbox as their first console generation), of course you're not going to like OoT. It's the same kind of open-world exploration game. Have you played any other Zelda games since then, like Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, or Twilight Princess, by chance? If you have, ask yourself: how truly different are the core mechanics you're complaining about in this game from any of those other games? The combat and puzzles are essentially the same as OoT. If you liked those games, perhaps you don't like this game for an entirely different reason than you're saying, or perhaps you really won't dislike this game in the end and are just venting frustration at being stuck on a certain part of the game. And I can understand that. The main reason I don't like FPS games is that I know I'm horrible at them and can never get past the early levels. But I wouldn't say that all FPS games are BAD games. I just don't like them. As an interesting inversion to that, I can't beat human opponents in fighting games worth anything, yet fighting games are still one of my favorite genres. I can get over the fact that I'm not any good at them (in multiplayer at least) and enjoy the games for what they are and how well-made they are. Did you have fun with the other parts of OoT? If you did, then again, I have to suggest that maybe you're just getting frustrated at not being able to pass this part of the game.

And yeah, if you're having trouble with three Stalfos in the Forest Temple, you're probably just not good at Zelda games. As others have said, in this case, it's not the game's fault that you're not good at it. Though to help you out, my advice would be to try stunning them. You've probably got a full inventory of Deku Nuts; use them.
