Whatever car/truck you drive it's almost guaranteed there is an online community website dedicated to it. Go on one of those and introduce yourself and look for "meat and greets." If you have an off-road vehicle you might meet at a trail-head. You could also try forums for other specific interests. For example if you like riding your bike meet some people on there in your area and plan on getting together for a few rides.

Buy a really fucking great suit. Go out to a club and sit in a corner like a badass. This will inevitably invoke peoples curiosity. Then they'll come over. Buy them drinks. The people will inevitably start to like you, now you've got two choices.

1. Kill them
2. Make friends.

If you chose option two, then wa la. Now, ask for there email address and leave.

Bang, online friends.

Play a bunch of multiplayer games like TF2, WOW, Eve Online, etc.

What's really fun is when you can get you're RL friends to play online games, too. There's nothing like kicking back with your friends on TF2 after a day at school.

This site was a good place for me to meet a bunch of new people I talk to all the time. Or also pretty much any active forum like this one.

Honestly, if you really want to make online friends, and can support the habit, joining a friendly WoW guild is a great way to start.

I'd probably recommend playing an online game to find friends. It might be hard to do at times, but I found several of my closest friends on Guild Wars.
Yeah unfortunately that is not an option right now. I am on a loaner PC and it is a POS lol.

Unless someone can reccomend a decent browser game
Likely ninja'd, but:
Minecraft's pretty great. Browser-based, no actual objective. It's basically an online sandbox. Except it isn't occupied by small children and strange old men like in the real world.

I recently started playing a browser game called Dead Frontier, it's a browser zombie game.

Well, you can add me on Xbox live if you want, see if you like the games I'm playing. Facebook works, and being active on fora works too.

Let me just bookmark your profile and try and remember to add you on PSN tomorrow...
You're welcome.

Seriously though (If that wasn't serious enough). I would have to say start/find a usergroup about something you're particularily interested in.
My avatar won't tell you where I found my friends.
I'm serious, it won't.

Actually, it goes "sword", then "bow", then "axe". But if you want to be Gimli, I don't mind taking Legolas.

One can never have too many friends. You never know when you'll encounter Durin's Bane (or something similar)

EDIT: Looks like someone already took Legolas. Very well, I call Tom Bombadil.
I was bothered by that, and was hoping nobody else would point it out so I got the chance to...

Can I be Pippin? He's way cooler than Merry....

Chatroulette. Try it!

Seriously though, if you play games then join a guild/faction in an MMO, or start playing on some server regularly. I've got about 50 friends on Steam, 10 of which I know in real life. Loads of them I met playing Team Fortress 2, and since then I've played BFBC2, mods, WoW, Starcraft II and so on, with a lot of them.
If the South Park episode speaks the truth, do not try it...

OT: play some online games, you can meet some cool people.

My mum and dads mate met each other playing on WoW and are now married.

I think you should make a thread about it and have interviews with potential friends similar to what you find in a job interview.

It would be more efficient and streamlined in today's fast paced world.
I don't really think this would be a good idea, this would alienate some people who could be potential friends. Just start talking to people, soon enough you'll find somebody who has similar interests.

I agree with gaming online. I've met a bunch of really cool guys online. I made friends with this one guy a couple years ago playing Rainbow Six Vegas and we play with eachother a couple times a week. Lately, I got into his clan in a game and made friends with those guys. I hang out with my friends in real life every couple days, but I see these guys every night, talk to them, game with them for hours.

Any game, a shooter, MMO, a puzzle game, a fighter, you can relate to people in any game (as long as you find cool people, it takes some searching).
