Also Mass Effect 2, the savegame bug isnt something to worry about at all. Even if you lose all your data you can just play that awesomeness all over again.
Assasins Creed: Brotherhood was also great. I assume AC2 was as well.
Killzone 3 might be worth looking into.
Resistance series so far might be worth looking into. The first one has 2 player co-op too.

Hmm, I don't own a PS3, but I've heard some good things about Killzone and the Resistance series. Besides that, I guess, my suggestion is the XBOX 360 (The online is soo worth the extra money IMO)

I'd also pick up Assassin's creed 2/Brotherhood. You're not missing much with AC 1, but I guess it's kind of like Uncharted 1 - play it to know where things came from, but maybe give it a rental rather than a purchase.

I tried Front Mission Evolved as a rental on my buddy's PS3.
It's a decent junk food action robot title. Good if you just want to splode shit up for an evening.
