have not seen any myself just the usual ads for games
the only new ad I have seen has been for comic-con

personally I am glad of three things that
A. those fucking annoying pop up ads for dead space 2 and dragon age 2 are gone
truth be told they had the exact oposite effct on me seeing them made me not buy Dragon age 2 as i didnt want to support a a-hole of a company

B. a bunch of my other favorite sites keep showing ads for some webpage called "playpickle" that eather show old gen ponys (get with the times) or pokemon (this one cheeses me off more as it has blatnely stolen fan art on it) promsing "fun" games yea sound real legit...but thats not the case here

C. no Evony need I say more

You may want to clear out your collection of tracking cookies if you're getting ads like that. Pretty sure the Escapist runs through ad agencies that use your browsing history to pick ads for you. If you run Windows or Mac OS, use this [http://www.piriform.com/CCLEANER] to clean up... just click the "free" options... which, amazingly enough, don't include adware. Apparently the paid service simply includes live tech support.

PS- I seem to have a Quizno's ad with virtual coupons running at the top and bottom... no matter, I clean my system daily.

Yeah I'm getting a lot of YOU HAVE UNCLAIMED PRIZES and You have been tagged in four photos type ads that scream malware! spyware! virus! to me. It is kind of disappointing. I have clicked on ads on the Escapist as I know they get some revenue when you do so. I don't know I will in the future (however long that may last).

Escapist doesn't pick the adds; their space is owned by an ad company; that company sells the space. Nothing to do with he escapist.

(With possible exceptions for 'theme' ads like the current Deus Ex one)

Oh my homepage is:

Here, let's clarify something.

You don't actually need to click on some dodgey ads to get hit by a virus. Some of them are just embedded in there and told to activate automatically. And that's why you will get a sudden firewall warning on some sites. It'll come out of the blue and do it without you having to touch a thing. Understand? It's not about who's dumb enough to click stuff anymore.

That said, the Escapist is SUPPOSE TO be careful about who they pull in here and who they don't in terms of ads. The one thing I can be assured of right now is that they're not dumb enough to do this stuff on purpose NOW of all times, when it could raise the stink that broke the website's back.

I'm getting this ad:

That's a 100% scam, but it's nothing bad as long as you don't click on it.

I don't get it. We post on the forums, we can directly contact the goddamn community manager AND the tech team, but we do not use those abilities, we just take it. Even when the goddamn banners give your computer herpes. Hello, their names appear in yellow, they're not hard to find. Just submit your complaints to them. It's not like we can't change the goddamn site we post on.

Oh teh noes! Newegg and Cruiser Customizing...two sites I frequent, I trying to give me viruses via escapist ads!!! Damn them.

On a more serious note, most of those banner ads aren't controlled by the escapist. They are controlled by google and are often based on things you've searched for recently.
