...And that is... I read about games more than I actually play them. At the moment I don't have the money, and in general I find reading about them more convenient.

I get excited over a news article about a game that I'm never gonna play. I read about how they're made, get magazines, read forums, yet I find I've rarely actually played them. I can talk for hours about them, even full franchises that I've never played.

Is anybody the same? Or am I on my own here...

Well, I read up on games sometimes, usually when deciding which one to buy... I can't talk about franchises I've never played, but can about ones I have.

Yeah, i'm kinda.
There just aren't very good games at present that I haven't already tried.
The future seems to hold more promise though, so I get more excited about that.

Oh hells yes.

These days I'm far more interested in the gaming industry than I am about gaming itself :p (that and also I lack a TV to play a lot of the games I'd like to play at university xD)

Nope, don't suffer that at all. I almost never get excited about games, but when I do, you can bet your life that I'm playing them one way or another.

I also don't read up on stuff I wouldn't play.

Yeah I do this.

I'm a student with a decent backlog of games that I barely have time to play. Doesn't stop me leering with my nose up against the glass at both classic games and new releases.

I've watched a few complete walkthroughs (ones without a commentary) of games that are either console exclusive or are in a genre I dislike, or both. However whilst I'll readily discuss story or visual elements of such games I steer well clear of talking about the gameplay since I don't have hands on experience of them.

I'm the opposite. I'd have a quick glance on IGN headlines every time it's conveniant, and that's it. I didn't realise that KH: reCoded was out today (in UK and Ireland) until last week and I'm a big KH fan. Just goes to show.

Yeah, mostly when I play a sequel without playing the original I go back and read the plot synopsis or I even look up the cutscenes on Youtube.

Yeah, its the same with films and music.

People like to talk, when it comes to the decision one might back out.
Actually, I know what you mean there. When X-Factor was on the TV, I never watched it once, but I knew EVERYTHING that was happening in it because it was all anybody talked about.

I always read about games , I say i'm going to get it, but when the game is released I'm too lazy to buy it and if I do buy it I'm too lazy to play it.

Well, if it's any consollation I used to read the manuals more than I played the games when I was a kid. Not so much now, I prefer a "Jump in method"
