There's no such thing as slightly unique, same as there's no such thing as very unique.

Anyways go to the festival, seriously, who goes to bed at 1130 pm when his whole town is having a festival?

hah i used to live near Croke Park, it was always a ***** listening to the screams shouts and drunks, I always found it funny how i had to watch matches on the telly when the match was just round the corner.

Play your Music louder than they can, RUIN THEIR FESTIVAL!, use 100-150 pounds to but large Amps or Speaker phones!

Why do they call it the Reading festival if there is no reading?
I hope your not serious with that comment.

OT: Get ear plugs and put them in quite firmly and that should dull all the noise so you can't hear anything.

I can't suggest anything which hasn't been said before. Alcohol and earmuffs. If you don't have earmuffs, Alcohol and more alcohol.
I don't have ear muffs and I don't drink alcohol!

Complain. That's what the rest of us Brits do when people are enjoying themselves and we're not.

Earplugs? or an iPod maybe? Im not too great on ideas. Those are what I use to block out sound.
Sounds like a good idea. Use proper earphones (the big one that cover your whole ear) though, the Ipod ear-bud things dont block out much noise.

Darn it... uh, go with the ipod idea! At least then you can choose the music to listen to. Plus it'll help block out the noise.

If you don't have an ipod... I don't suppose you have cotton wool or something? Just make sure you don't push it in too deep in your ear, you don't want the stuff getting stuck.

Try reading for a few hours. Not on a computer, but a magazine or even better, a long book. You'll become drowsy quite quickly in my experience.

As an apology for the delay, I baked a special batch of Sesame Street cookies - just for you:

Tried to put it in as an image but couldn't get it to work :(

Right, let me explain my situation. It is currently about 11:30 pm and I intend to go to sleep soon. Only 1 problem - I live in Reading, England.

Anyone living in England might know that my town is currently in the middle of Reading Festival - one of the biggest rock festivals of the country, second only to Glastonbury Festival.

The problem lies in the fact that my house lies happily in the area in which I can't hear the music enough to actually appreciate it, but can hear it enough to keep me awake, all bloody night.

One solution would be to actually go to the festival, but I intend to go on Sunday anyways, and buying a ticket now would cost about, say, £100-150. If your lucky.

So, Escapists! I have this problem every year - how do I finally stop it?
You think you have problems? I live across the road from a major steelworks that is currently building the supports of the whole roof section of the 2012 Olympic Swimming area.

It's loud (banging, crashing and rolling sounds), has large trucks going back and forth every day and every night. Has been for 2 months.

They have this thing in my city called the "burnouts" every year. It's just people getting together destroying their car tires and getting drunk all weekend. Well, anyways, I live right next to it. This thing goes all night too, people never go home, and there have been riots when the police try to get people out of there.

Mind you, I have two kids who need their sleep. It pisses me off royally. People can do what they want, so long as it doesn't infringe on my family's right to peace and quiet. It pisses me off as well that they expect me to pay them to get in. Why is there no concession made for those of us who have no choice in the matter, at least offer us tickets for our troubles.

So, this year I plan on going to my city council and speaking out, not only for my sanity but to save the enviorment from the bleached smoke and burned rubber, and save the city streets from the wear and tear of such stupid activity.
