Bioware can make a good ending. Look at Baldur's Gate 2: Throne of Bhaal. That ending was damn near perfect. Maybe these new writers they hired are too stuck with tv series writing styles to see how retarded it was, but that does not excuse them. Nothing excuses them.
Mother of God... they hired the writers from Lost!

Meh. I actually liked the ending of Lost. It may not have wrapped up their 1,053 idiotic mysteries, but at least it gave emotional closure to the characters. I liked the ending of Sopranos too, for that matter.

This end? This ending annoyed me.

"The Created will always rebel against the Creator"

Bullshit. My pilot is dating his ship.
Not to mention as others have the geth. And the fact that one of these geth: Legion went out on a high note that secured the peace between his people and their creators. Entirely of his own violation.

This. is. so. damn. accurate. I. don't. even.

Just post that on Bioware's forums. It's EXACTLY what is wrong with the ending. Even if you can comprehend the final 5 minutes, this post of yours hits the nails head with a toothpick from 20KM away. It's that damn accurate.

for reference, click Zetsubou-Sama's name in the quote heading above.
Thank you, and i opened my post by saying I had already posted it in the BSN. It's under the name Catlayst's stupid logic by Xion66

I'm probably alone on? this, but I like one of the endings to Mass Effect 3. Hear me out. Ok, so throughout all the Mass Effect series all the races are completely divided. Asari, Turian, Salarian, Krogan, Quarian, humanity, etc. Well with the relays destroyed and all the different fleets at earth at the time this happened, they now have to all stay together on earth and coexist.Shepard truly unites all the different species. And thats why Shepard's a legend. Thats my two cents, anyway.
But as far as I'm aware, don't Turians, and Quarians need very specific diets to live, both of which are probably not going to be apparent on Earth. So odds are they are dying out really fast. Plus there is this one little thing called natural resources. People expanded all over the galaxy because these things aren't infinite, and I'm going to assume that Earth, as well as the few planets in the system are most likely fully depleted at this point in the future so rebuilding a nearly completely destroyed planet is going to be pretty difficult if not impossible. Even if they did win, they are stuck on a planet with few resources, and no real way to get more since the relays are gone. Pretty screwed...

Well, I chose to destroy the reapers and got Garrus and Vega step out of the shuttle at the end, a long with some old man who sounded a lot like the illusive man telling some kid a story of the Shepard.
That old man was Buzz Aldrin.

Stupidest plot hole of all, is why the hell did Shepard walk right into the explosion radius while shooting the red cable.
Because the ghost kid said "if you pick this option, you die". Silly you, that's not a plot hole!
He'd die because the energy released would fuck up his Reaper innards, yes. not that he'd die because he'd walk into the explosion like a twat.

Also it didn't fuck up EDI who's part Reaper.
Or the Geth who end up part Reaper.

God I hate these endings.

I think the one thing that's most bothering people about the endings is they wanted to see how their Squadmates, whom they had grown to care about, were getting on after Shephard died.

Actually he said that about the 'Control' ending ;)

Also this. Considering this is the ending to a trilogy of games, I expected more than three minutes of dialogueless pre-rendered cinematics and Joker running away like a sissy.

While those codas are nice, I don't necessarily feel they're essential. Planescape Torment ended without any codas, and no one complained about that ending. The conversations before the "final battle" were sufficient as a send-off. It was an acknowledgement of the importance of those relationships.

What I need from the ending is coherency. I need an explanation for the things that don't make sense. And not a hypothetical speculative explanation by fans, an actual explanation from the people who wrote the story. Because they forgot to include it in the game.

Now that I think of it, Shepard walking into the explosion makes sense if the 'destroy' ending is actually canon. Because it was an explosion that put him in the dream-state in the first place and the very end sees him wake up from the 'dream'.

Which is retarded.

If the Quarians are still alive during the final confrontation, their Civilian Fleet is part of the forces taking back Earth. All of the non-combat ships were outfitted with weapons comparable to a Turian Dreadnaught. This includes the Lifeships which grows the dextro-amino foods for the Quarians. So both the Quarians and the Turians would be fine as long as at least one of the Liveships survived. Though even with the casualties from both of their fleets, there would still probably be mass starvation between the two races. But yeah, due to lack of resources, everyone's pretty much fucked.

2: It is unclear how long Shepard was out of it when struck by the lazer. When she awakens, you hear the radio saying that the entire assault force was oblitherated. It's possible (though I admit unlikely) that your squadmates retreated.
How exactly would they have retreated, I saw Garrus and Tali lying on the ground not moving with big puddles of blood under them. Did the Normandy quickly swoop them up, perform a Lazarus and still make it away in time?
Must have missed that detail, as I never noticed your current squadmates laying dead on the ground. If so, fair enough. Yet again I'll say that this is all speculation, the entire point of my defense is to try and help people fill in the blanks with logic. Again: I'm not claiming that Bioware's handling of the ending was good, this is all just my attempt to make sense of the damn thing.

You may have fucked up the galaxy and doomed countless billions to death and privation, but at least the REAPERS didn't get to do it first!

Fuck you, Reapers!
