I have zero faith in humanity...

...for many reasons!

It would take forever to go over all of them, so...I'll just give an example of what happened at work the other day. There was a guy who ordered a large soda, so, I gave it to him. Then after drinking part of it, he asks how much it is, despite there being a GIANT menu sign behind the counter, and so I tell him, and he says "Nah, that's too much."

So...he dug through the tip jar for the cash, handed it to me, then left. I was so stunned that I didn't even say anything...and he didn't even give me enough to pay for the thing. (Sales tax...)

Why are people such assholes?

I have zero faith in humanity...
And I don't care.

This is nothing but a tired juvenile revelation that most people come to realise is full of crap.

I can't help but feel that such an accusation as 'people are assholes' or 'I have no faith in humanity' requires such a profound lack of empathy as to border on the sociopathic. More of an incitement upon the speaker than the subject of their ignorant, arrogant bile.

All said and done. There are so many posts on the escapist about people being so tired of humanity that it should be considered spam.

Some people are jerks, true enough, but isn't saying you have no faith in humanity a little, y'know, excessive? I mean, come on. Some punk ripped you off. It's irritating, sure, but does that really mean that there's absolutely no reason to have any faith whatsoever in the rest of humanity? Like, what about doctors who are working to cure cancer? What about people giving their free time to volunteer at homeless shelters? Hell, how about this Internet thing? It's pretty great, right? Doesn't that kind of balance out the bad stuff?

That's the reason I take the money first and then get their stuff. Don't even have to worry about someone trying that.

That was insanely entertaining,
I just saw this scene in my head and started laughing.
If you are truely serious then yes, you have every right to hunt him down and kill him like the dog he... oh, wait. That was an example you gave to explain why you have no faith in humanity.
Can we still kill him?

I wonder if I could eat for free that way, just order a burger from McDonalds and then wander off without paying. Are they really going to bother chasing me or calling the police?

Obviously because he is unaware that Friendship is Magic.

I don't know what I would have done in your situation to be honest... that's ridiculous. Glad I never had anything like that happen to me when I cashiered at Kroger (although someone did try to shortchange me. Yeah, you're really subtle when you try to pay for a $.99 pack of gum with a fitty).

Pretty much this.

I mean just because somthing shitty happened to you doesn't mean we are all a-holes.

Incedently, I had a great day.

But to answer your question, people do those kind of things because they know they can get away with it. Case and point: you didn't say anything to stop him.

YOU WIN!!!!!!!

OT: Yes there are some people who genuinely get kicks out of being like that but the only way to deal with it is to see past it. reserve your judgement of Humanity for the little victories that you can see every day.
