I share your view to.Arsen said:Chess has often been called one of the frameworks of many strategists throughout history. Coinciding with this is the belief that it improves one's thinking ability alongside the notion that it shows one how to play thoroughly ahead.
I think this is all rubbish for the following reasons.
1. The game is based upon pure "fairness" and the moment.
2. No strategizing truly goes into effect because it's based on a system of "rules" so to speak. No freedom in being allowed to perform as one may.
3. The game is one big assumption that everyone in life is equal to their adversaries.
Anyone else share this view with me?

Why do we have to kill people to settle our countries' disputes anyway? Why can't we play chess, or, in a less stupid way, just FREAKING TALK THINGS OUT. God, sometimes it can feel like Leatherface is going through a breakup during war.Cpt_Oblivious said:It'd save a hell of a lot of lives if generals just played chess instead of actually getting soldiers to fight.wolfy098 said:no for this is as a war should be
on a table in a game played fairly
Saying there's no strategy is stupid. It doesn't simulate war, sure, but then in all honesty neither do games like modern warfare or civilization. Stick to checkers.Arsen said:Chess has often been called one of the frameworks of many strategists throughout history. That's a presidential campaign right there! =Dwill1182 said:Chess? Everybody knows that all conflicts should be settled with a Pokemon battle. This includes international disputes. If this fails, break out the Yu-Gi-Oh decks.
Part of strategizing is making rules work to your favor.SharPhoe said:Just because there are rules to follow doesn't mean you can't still strategize, you know.

1. Fairness? It depends on the skill and mindset of the player. Chess is a mind game. And what's this moment thing you are talking about? The whole point of chess is too think beyond the moment.Arsen said:Chess has often been called one of the frameworks of many strategists throughout history. All the game based knowledge pushes out memories about things people are going to remind you about anyway (birthdays) and minor issues, such as being asked to buy snacks.
