I'm just glad this episode is finally up. I've been waiting months to talk about what we've been up to. Maybe not months, but it feels like months to me. ... maybe it has been months. Either way... I can't Fraking wait till next week. I thought for sure it was going to be revealed today. Zak is an Excellent Editor!!!

Just out of curiosity what level are the characters at by this video? I mean just like on average. I played a bit of DnD and lost a character I spent like two months on, it blew.

TPKs are always harsh, and not just for the players. It often means the DM's got a lot of work to do setting up new scenarios.

Every party needs someone who's a bit of a downer--the person who says, yeah, but what if we all roll 1s? What then? They're not the funnest to have around, but they can often be the voice of reason that makes you come up with a better plan...or maybe just to stick with the plan you had.

PS:

Never ask a group (if you're the group leader) what they want to do at a crucial moment if a plan's already been created. The group invariably chooses the wrong thing--sometimes the leader's gotta kick some tail and say, Keep going--debate it later.

I hit level 5 last week and I've been playing this character for a year. Everyone is between level 2 or 3 I think and started their characters in the fall or early winter.

Ah I just got home from a game of DnD that ended the day with all but me and a Bard unconscious.... what a coincidence. By the way great music I love "The Sword".

I'd hate to b a massive spoiler (So if your gunna rage about spoilers stop reading now) but if your freaken out about TPK i'm fairly sure mandy's already told us only one person dies like 2 weeks back. could be wrong and she was only refering to in one episode but yea... I would really like to see longer episodes though.

A whole year to get to level 5? ouch gunna suck goin back to 4th if i'm wrong

The editing really adds a lot of value here -- I imagine just watching a TPK unfold in real time with no cuts is depressing, but with the "tell 'em what you're gonna tell 'em" foreshadowing approach, it turns into a tragic tale. Especially if it's Satine's character who dies (she's in the middle of the goblins after all, and eating her heart wouldn't provoke an opportunity attack from anyone), we have a classic tale of hubris ("One hit point." 'I can handle that.' "Three more hit points." 'I can still take that.' "You switch places with one of the goblins." 'I can't handle it, boss!')

This episode was plenty long enough.

No spoiler--it makes sense. I believe I hinted that at least one person dies but said no more than that. Can you tell who dies by watching this episode? And in today's episode I say "So we like, have a TPK *almost* here." Where's the spoiler?

Pretty sure you said one person but in my usually style i can't be bothered going back to check. And I think Noumenon probably has it right, satine is in a horrible position.

Is it possible to get longer episodes though or sooner releases? cos it seems like you guys have a back log of material and i know usually a session covers a lot of moments like this.

EDIT: turns out I can be bothered, thought I might have read too far into the prior comment "In fact, someone dies in the session right after this one, in case you didn't notice the hint above" but maybe its just me.

River of Unfathomable Despair?
I am imagining some explorer discovering the river a long time ago, then turning to his depressed emo goth son and asking, "What should we name it, son?"

Side note: Satine is looking good. Well, they all are, but I have a thing for chicks in shiny clothes. :)

I really like the change in music this episode. It did a good job to help emphasize the dire situation the party is in.

Even when your characters are facing death your group still looks like it's so into the game! This series always makes me want to pick up DnD again. I'm looking forward to next week's episode!

On another note: Where did you get that tribble? It's fuckin' adorable, and I want one.
Search "Tribble" on Amazon. You'll find all sorts/colors.
The things these girls have on their wishlists...

Did they have multiple colors in the Star Trek episode/show? I thought it was just shades of brown and grey. It'd be fun to have a bunch hiding around during a party, and whenever someone says something loud a bunch of tribbles titter titillatingly.

I've always tended to notice taller women. So naturally they shoot the entire series with them sitting around a table. Still, KK looks tall.

KK is 5'9.
Who plays D&D standing up?
And of course it's not weird!
