Just do what I do, buy a very powerful radio antennae and point it into the sky towards the galactic center, and have the following message repeat over and over: KILL US!!!KILL US ALL!!!

By the time aliens get here, the few thinking people left will be begging for death.

I think I just had an aneurysm from shear stupidity.
Fuck me, umm... well, ahhhhhhh!

Ok, now that's out of my system, it is a sad day. This reminds me of something I once thought up while people watching,"You can't kill stupid, many a man has tried and failed, but you can sure as hell get away from it for a bit". So with that said, who wants to get started on that space colony.

I read that as birdoplasty at first. Makes me wish that the winner would secretly be given cosmetic surgery to look like a bird without her knowing.

I'm sorry, but unless you're horribly disfigured/burned through no means in your control and you want to fix that, then nobody should take part in plastic surgery. I can at least take comfort in the fact that these people will forever be miserable, and will wallow in their sadness for the rest of their days. Sadly, without any expression due to being stuck in an eternally creepy smile.

And any husbands that actually encourage or like what their wives do to disfigure themselves should have their entrails gnawed on by angry gophers.

Sorry, seemed relevant. Bridalplasty and those who watch it aren't the death knell of our society. Some people enjoy that kind of television, and I really don't care if they make it and watch it. As the comic says, "More harm was caused by people panicked by societal decline than societal decline ever did."

What's worse is that people wonder why I've lost all my faith in humanity. Why I've long, long long since lost my faith in humanity.

Looks like I may to build my own batcave if this keeps up. Must hide from the "real" TV.

Do people realize that this Webcomic is not God? Or is everything written on that WC must be posted all over the worlds forums just because people 'think' it's correct.

New idea people, how about we start thinking for ourselves and create our opinions instead of CopyPasta'ing this everytime someone brings up a valid argument point? It's was annoying for MythBusters debates, and it's still annoying now.

Or, maybe, he could just possibly reflect and emphasize my point? I don't know about you, but I'm fairly certain society would be far worse off if we started deciding to eliminate everything we didn't deem to be "of value". Here's another idea- people have different tastes then everyone else. This entire thread is based entirely off taste, and that's far too subjective for any point to be truly considered valid. So why can't people just switch the channel as opposed to coming on here and moaning about every other TV show they think is shit?

That's not the point I'm making...here is what I mean:

-Mythbuster (this WC appears).
-Complaint of a certain Show (this WC appears).
-Explanation of some psychological evolution vs religion theory (this WC appears).
-Funny double sided political joke tied in socio-chronic status (this WC appears).

Frankly speaking, not even gamers bash each other as much, by posting images of Game-Webcomicss which berates their console. I mean I get it, the WC is making a point, but when almost every single topic which has the 'value' of a proper debate, gets flooded in Youtube videos and Webcomics snippets, it's only shows me that that both people who think and those who do not, have nothing of value to contribute to the said matter, so they might as well not post anything.

I can't help but have the concern that this type of TV will turn a new generation into entitled spoiled brats.

I realize that this is somewhat reminiscent of the people who say videogames are turning kids into murderers, which I put a lot of effort into refuting. But what makes my concern more valid, and please correct me if I'm wrong (seriously), is that this isn't some fantastical over-the-top kinda scenario like most of the "violent" videogames present. Sure Grand Theft Auto basically functions on real-world physics, but the content is so outlandish that I have trouble believing that its turning kids into serial killers.

But shows like this are different. "Reality TV" may not be true reality, but it is in some respects. Most importantly, these shows are PRESENTED as reality, and even if the concepts are kinda ridiculous, the presentation is that this is how people in this social group or career behave in the real world. And if a child or preteen has no true life experience, might begin to use this so-called "reality" as a form of life experience and may begin to mimic the behaviors seen therein. And if enough kids are drawn in by this charade, then reality will eventually warp itself to that standard. Maybe I'm just being panicky.

I certainly wouldn't suggest banning these types of things, because I'm very against the government overstepping itself, but I just wish that we could change the course of this trend by not buying into it.

I feel like my grandparents right now.

Something good about Humanity?

All explanation or complaining about TV producers and their choices aside, this really isn't that hard.

Take a look at this thread, and the bilious mass of seething-hate reaction. Remember that while there is always an audience for horrible, stupid little people to train wreck their lives, there is a much broader collection of people whose voices simply aren't heard, because they aren't willing to debase themselves for the lowest common denominator.

The greatest thing about humanity is the cognition, self-awareness, and creativity it has shown for millenia. Will it occasionally churn out drek like this? Yes. But like a lot of media, this is just pointless escalation. I'm sure you can name at least one game that took it to a stupid level of "extreme" in the hopes of getting sales.

Faith in humanity comes from remembering that the most vocal of us are usually the worst of us. That they are scum on the surface of our gene pool, and that for every drivel spewing pus hole churning out insipid shock television, there are more working in other mediums to produce things of substance.

Ahh, I see. Yeah, this one does get pulled out a lot, I just used it because it was relevant to what I was trying to say. I don't let it be my point though, I try to expand upon the initial point it makes when possible.

See the problem with this argument is that you assume people are so unintellegent that they can't understand and contextualize reality TV. You're Wrong. In the same way that people think that gamers can't contextualize violent videogames. your making mass assumptions and you really do sound like an anti videogame crusader

I was just physically sick in my mouth.

I'm going to form A.R.T.V , a radical 'anti reality tv group'. We'll systematically go from country to country, sterilising anyone who appears on any show like this.

Our numbers will be few, our cause... unequalled and our resolve, unquestionable.

I need members. Any takers?
Sir, I'd be honoured to fight with you!
