So, like most everyone else, I was incredibly angry about the Themis Media/Extra Credits fiasco, and once publicly wrote that I would begin to rarely visit the site in order to show my dislike...and yet here I am, watching videos here everyday like normal, adding views to commercials, and proving that the site is still financially viable after Extra Credit's departure. So, my question is, are you doing the same thing as me, and still technically supporting Themis Media group despite the anger towards them, or has there ever been a situation in which you found yourself being hypocritical in a similar manner?

Honestly I was here long before Extra Credits came here and as such them leaving doesn't bother ne to the point that I will go riot in the street and demand stuff. This was also the first and only forum I post on so there really isn't anywhere for me to go if I decide to leave besides I just joined the pub club today so you guys are stuck with me for another year.

You wrote that because you weren't thinking rationally, which is exactly what happens at a time like that. Flash mobs. The guys who run this site are good people, and it sounded like the whole thing was caused by a misunderstanding.

Neither side was in the right plus even if I had been angry I'm not going to stop people like Yahtzee and Critical Miss from benefiting from the traffic I give them because the website hosting them made a bad decision,its not their fault.

Companies need to make money, and people are ignorant to the idea that normal people are involved to them.
The issues with the Escapist was money issues, and the extra money that caused from the Rocket charity, was controversial on how it could have been used.
I found it childish and immature that so many people attempted to paint The Escapist as "Evil" just because they wanted to use the money to fund the show, which was the intention of the charity in the first place.

This ofc didn't make me go I won't visit the website so I couldn't care if I am support a company that some people dislike. I support Liberals even if the majority don't.

You're not alone either, the guy who made the first thread about it said he'd delete his account but 15 or so pages into the thread he was looking for badges for a successful thread.

This is the only forum I post on. Considering the kind of mind-rotting cesspool that internet forums usually are, I'm willing to forgive a few indiscretions in exchange for having a place to come discuss things that matter to me, that is frequented by people who are 97% of the time very mature and respectful.

I daresay Yahtzee could take off and I would still visit the site several times a day.

Nah, I don't threaten boycotts and then fail to go ahead with them (wasn't there a video about this a few weeks ago).

I'm the other extreme, keep clinging to things that used to be good in the hope they will be again, becoming increasingly disillusioned and bitter. Hell, I've watched the Star Wars prequels, am still watching Dr Who, and occasionally take a peek at what GW is doing to their fluff.

Eh, I can't say I miss Extra Credits. The main guy's voice was very irritating and the videos had an aura of condescension. Not to mention that they never EVER leaned one way or the other on any topic, leading to a mostly boring neutral mess.

I thought about it for the whole of 15 seconds then I carried on in the forums and realised a whole community of people I can continue talking in the same manner with like what they say on Extra Credits. They were a big deal for me on here but then again I can still follow them wherever they go.

I did like Extra Credit, and was very hacked off when they left, nu thte Escapist is still an awesome website, so I was never going to boycott it.

This is not an attempt to start a flame war, but is just to better understand the situation: What did EC do that was as bad as the Escapist not paying for $20,000 of content and claiming that they were owed 75% of the overflow from the donation drive? I could understand maybe 10 or 15%, but 3/4 of the overflow? That seems a little excessive.

Anyway, as far as backing down on boycotts, I once vowed to never again give EA my money. A few years later I bought ME2 and Dragon Age, though to be fair EA had stopped doing some of the things I boycotted them for, and I thought of each game as less of an EA title and more of a Bioware title.
