This is a method that I've developed, it doesn't work 100% of the time or maybe it only works because I get distracted and just fall asleep but...

try picturing the darkness you see with your eyes closed in your head. Sometimes I do this and feel like I'm crossing my eyes which causes discomfort and fear so I stop. But if that doesn't happen, I think I'll get you to sleep in a heart beat.

Funny, I about 90% of the time I don't fall asleep. I'm in a state where I graze the states of sleep and waking. Basically I remember everything that happens that night, but I wake up massively refreshed.

I used to never be able to get to sleep for ages but lately I've been falling asleep really quickly and I've been having more and more dreams that I actually remember.

Drugs. Legal kind. Over the counter sleeping pills are pretty effective(liquid gel). Ambien a prescription sleeping pill is also very effective. Of course if you get in a habit of using such things constantly it can screw up your sleeping habits. However, it sounds like your not sleeping well to begin with.

Relaxation hypnosis videos on YouTube work miracles. Or warm milk (but for the love of fuck don't do sleeping pills. I took one and it left an atrocious aftertaste for days).

Read a textbook.
or specifically, read Mythology by Edith Hamilton.
Or, what you could do, is go down to the Testicular support group, and learn what real pain is.
(I would say cookie for reference, but then I'd be in debt by a thousand million cookies.)
EDIT: AWW Ninja'd by Aero. Always happens when I want to make a Fightclub referance.
SAVE SOME FOR THE REST OF US!!
Heeeey... I like that book. Why would you read stories about Zeus banging every woman in Greece before bed, anyway?

OT: I always have trouble sleeping, but I've recently started finding some great sleep music on Youtube. I often use this one, [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43yvlrNl3Xc&feature=PlayList&p=FEB757F0D1528135&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=2] but it takes a few tries to find a song that fits the mood you're in and your musical preferences.

I can't really decide which one I do first.
Each requires only 1 hand, why not multitask?
The problem with saying something like that, which is more specific, is now I have a MENTAL IMAGE.
*shudders*

I'd say a lot of excercise will make you pretty damn sleepy.

Oddly, I recommend robaxacet, or robaxial, or whichever of that company's back pain stuff is part aspirin. It's the same dosage and medicine as night-time aspirin ws before it stopped being available. Not an everyday solution, but the other ingredient is a muscle relaxant that's quite safe and will keep you from twitches and whatnot, and does a good job of putting you to sleep.

I also find that a night with that stuff is about as good a way to get rid of a sore muscle as I've found.

This usually happens to me on the nights before big days where im too excited to sleep. What i do is i turn the room pitch black, take alot of homeopathic (natural) sleep aid medicine (herbs etc) and watch tv for an hours, that usually tires me out and i fall asleep

I visit a support group for testicular cancer. Cookie for the reference.

Following that I sleep like a baby.
Fight Club, and gimme cookie :p

Barring all other "treatments", a shot or two of whiskey generally puts me down if I'm having trouble sleeping.

I have this same problem, and have come up with a very reliable solution to it. It is a long term solution, but requires concentration, and dedication.

1. Find something you can do while lying in bed. Gameboy, PSP, DS, BOOK, MOVIE, whatever.
2. Do this EVERY NIGHT. This is important. Before going to bed, you need to do that action, whichever you chose, every night.
3. Eventually, your body and mind will begin to accept the activity you chose as a relation to sleep. This is a type of stimulus that will help you sleep every night.

These steps have worked for myself, and I would recommend them.

However, if it doesn't work, I have another option.
Eat a good meal. If your stomach is growling, you won't sleep. Eat a full meal, have a drink, and go to bed, and lay there. Don't concentrate on sleeping, just close your eyes, and think about anything but sleeping.
