I just got a PS3. What games are worth getting?

Uncharted series, first Resistance: Fall of Men if you like FPS (but not Resistance 2, it's crap), Demon's Souls, God of War III, if you didn't play it already on PC or XBOX or whatever else console you have Assassin's Creed II, Batman: Arkham Asylum etc.

And most importantly: If you like good plot, like to be drawn in completely by the climax, and if you can stand game, where you don't shoot at least 10 people in 10 seconds, then get Heavy Rain. It's brilliant, and don't let yourself be discouraged by nay-sayers.

Hit the PS Store and download Braid and Penny Arcade Adventures, and if you want to try things unlike most games, Flower and Noby Noby Boy. Mega Man 10 is worth a download too, if you like a challenge.

I myself just bought the PS3 was holding out until GoW3, and have only purchased one additional game since buying the console that was Infamous, tomorrow i'll pick up Arkham Asylum, and maybe..hmmm not sure

I would recommend lots of demos. Some of them (like God of war 3 demo) don't give a very accurate portrayal of the final product but you get to see the idea.

Alot of people seem to like Heavy Rain but I would recommend trying the demo first. It's not for everyone... like me. Also definitely try the demo for Valkyria Chronicles. It's my favorite ps3 exclusive but (once again) its not for everybody.

Also try a lot of those little downloadable game demos. I can vouch for pretty much anything with Pixel Junk in the title. Also check out echocrome, the last guy, zen pinball, and noby noby boy (though once again, not for everybody).

Wipeout HD is fantastic, the best racing game on the system imo.

I really liked Folklore too but it doesnt seem to be that popular. It has by far the best usage of the sixaxis controller. Thats not saying much but it really is a cool feature to a pretty interesting game.

take all the games that have been said and personally look at them, because alot of them are split down the middle on either being very liked or called garbage (such as heavy rain or ff13) and just see what you like or might like and go with that

Try Eternal Sonata. (Buy it if you love RPGs.)
Try Killzone 2. (Only buy it, if you love it. See or you can rent it. FPS.)
Try God of War 3. (Only buy it, if you like Hack and Slash.)
Try Demon Souls. (It's wonderful if you like hardcore RPGs.)
