I am a big fan of Castlevania, have been since the first one that i played on the NES. So i was super stoked to get this game and ran out to grab it as soon as soon as i got back from class.

I haven't got to play too much of it yet. (I'll upload the footage to youtube) so i am not really sure how the game works yet, nor do i have a very strong opinion of it yet.

Just wondering what other people think about it, or the Castlevania line in general.

The only Castlevania game I ever really liked was SOTN, which is one of my favorite games of all time. Lament of Innocence was good, but felt like a half-finished game (and a step in the right direction).

This one looks like a God of War clone, which I guess is okay, but definitely not what I was hoping for.

I picked it up, but I also grabbed Enslaved, which I'm much more excited about.

So far i have been enjoying it.

nothing about it has screamed OMG UR PLAYING A CASTLEVANIA GAME just yet, which was something i was kind of worried about from the trailers.

I let a friend play it and he felt like he was very much playing a castlevania game, so i guess that is all relative.

But i will repeat, i have been enjoying it.

Ive got it coming in from gamefly, but I guess the only real concern I have is, as people have noted constantly, its not really a castlevania game in the sense that recent titles was.
My favorite thing about castlevania was the RPG elements :p, level system, gear, that kind of stuff. From what Im told this one has..none of that, its just a standard god of war styled game, enemies drop "Experience points" Aka souls <.<..that you use to buy new abilities and like..a little more health. Like every. Action game. Ever. See ninja gaiden, spider man shattered dimensions, god of war, dantes inferno, darksiders, bayonetta, and thats just the games Ive played in the past year -.-.

I only ever played the first game when I was 7...and I think maybe once I beat the first boss, the bat, other than that I never got into Castlevania games.

I will give this one a shot when I can get my hands on it, and after I've finished Metroid Other M, then get my hands on Spiderman SD and beat that, then play and get addicted to Dead Rising 2, but by that time New Vegas will be out and I'll be playing that and WoW for awhile, so Castlevania is low on my lists unless/until someone convinces me otherwise to play it over Spiderman SD

well so far

the game opens with you fighting werewolves. No real reason, just fighting them. After you kill a few waves of them, you fight the first boss which is a bigger werewolf. At this point you still don't really know who you are or what you are doing. something about the end of the world and a guy at a lake.

There is a pretty cool horse stage, where you are riding a talking magic horse getting away from werewolves riding bigger werewolves.

Then you go to a swamp, something about nightmares. Talk to the guy at the lake, something about your dead wife. Patrick Stewart kills an ice giant.

Thats pretty much where i am.

The controls feel a lot like Castlevania: LoI

Well, I would like to play it now, but my university's mailroom is crap. Today is my birthday, and I used early birthday money to pre-order the limitied edition, I got it for 60.98 from Amazon because I used a $20 credit I had been saving.

I chose to get the by launch delivery. Well, I watched the Amazon package tracker, and saw that it arrived at the campus mailroom at 9:50am. Well I had a morning class I had to rush off to so I went to it and got back to my room at noon. I went to the mailroom, and they told me I didn't have package, and that if I did I would get an e-mail, about it. I went back to my e-mail and saw nothing. Of course I was pissed.

So, I then had to go to my two final classes of the day, that run from 1:30pm to 4:15pm. What happens when I get to my room, I check my e-mail and it says, I have a package, and that I can pick it up from 8am to 4pm weekdays.

I hate it because I remember that during my first year at this university, it was noon to 8pm. But during my second year they changed it. 8am to 4pm is just stupid.

So, only class tomorrow doesn't start until 4:30pm, so I will get up bright and early tomorrow and get the game I should have been playing tonight.

so far i am still enjoying it, but i keep waiting for it to feel like Castlevania.
It seems like a direct squeal to LoI in both feel and content, but i haven't checked to see where they game falls in the timeline.

Its like it keeps making references to Castlevania stuff. So i am hopeful at some point all that will just come together and it'll be like "oh man i'm playing castlevania!!!" which after a long build up like this would be awesome, but so far nothing.

It doesn't fall on the timeline. It's a reboot, so it's the beginning of a new timeline. I have a feeling consoles will follow this one and handhelds will follow the old one, which could be pretty cool-something they should've done with Kingdom Hearts-.

But just wait until you finish it before you get upset about the reboot. It's kind of cool with what they do.

The game should be coming in the mail for me today from Gamefly. I actually chose to buy Enslave and FF: 4 heroes of light over this. They all look like awesome games so I'm going to be pretty busy over the weekend now.

Just played through the demo and watched the trailer.....and it doesnt seem that bad. All ive heard is that is going to be horrible, not castlevania. But it has a melancholy atmosphere, the controls actually FEEL like castlevania (simple attacks, jump attacks, and throwing daggers) despite comparisons to DMC. So....i might give it ago.
Of course, people who actually HAVE the game will know better then I, but the first impressions arent that bad.

If i want an old school one, i should go buy Harmony of Despair that people keep talking about, lol.
