Talking an unstoppable villain to death is a load of shit. Beating an unstoppable villain in a straight fight at the age of sixteen is a load of shit.
The whole thing devolved into Kishimoto jerking off to thoughts of The-Mary-Sue-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named.
Truly, truly, TRULY sad.

He didn't catch him and the 8-Tail did say he was using the fight as a cover-up for escaping the eyes of his village...And before that black fire technique (Names are too confusing)...He was destroying the entire squad Sasuke had...
if you dont like anime and you dont know the story why would you waste your time posting anything. the stupidity of others perplexes. but back to the topic at hand the raikage has no idea who Naruto is or what he has done or what he can do. okay, I'm up to date on the anime, but not the manga, so can you answer me this, since you seem to be up to date on the manga.
10 or 20 episodes ago, or more I don't remember, but there were these ninja trying to destroy konoha for some stupid reason, and they had taken the corpses of a whole bunch of famous ninja, however what got me about that story arc was the hair monster. Naruto had to fight this lady who could use all the elemental jutsu, and when he cut her hair she turned into a hair monster.
Is that ever explained, or was that just filler that will never get explained?

Ok since everyone here decided just to bash naruto I'll give the lowdown The Raikage was just mad at naruto because he asked him to forgive sasuke for attacking his village and the raikage takes offense to this because he feels that a ninja should not apologize for his fellow ninja and that the whole leaf village should've taken care of the uchiha problem long ago and his guards dind't fill him in on the fact that naruto beat pain and is probably strong enough to face him in a head to head matchMerteg said:

See Naruto is a spunky good guy, who is arguably a bit short in the smarts department (he can be fairly cunning however). Compared to the rest of the Ninjas who are cool, fairly detached mercenaries well...
I'd imagine this remains into the second series since it's a defining moment.
Japanese is very tonal, and truthfully in a dub the delivery might have been wrong or poorly translated. Truthfully some dubs are better than others and a lot depends on who is doing the acting. Check the list and see who played that character (if it's a dub) and try and avoid his work in the future if he's routinely that bad.

I'm going to have to say that Naruto has hit a bit of a brick wall recently. The story is NOT meant to be about some 45 year old man's delusions of granduer. We just dont care.
Anyway, OT: The Raikage is from a society who are stereotyped as kind of brash and stubborn (and quirky in the case of Killer Bee and his rapping). He is just acting his part. One thing that should be learnt is that in Shonen Manga especially, ANYTHING is possible. Jiraiya getting asskicked? Give him Sage Mode. Konoha getting asskicked? Give them Naruto + Sage Mode + 3 Massive Toads.
If you dont like that kind of clichéd storytelling, try one of the shorter series. Like my comrades above said, Hellsing OVA series is maybe one of THE greatest series out there. Add in the fact that the Dub isnt half bad either and you get the makings of an amazing series.
As a personal recommendation, if you want to remove any trace of Naruto from your mind at the moment, go watch FLCL (Fooly Cooly). 6 Episodes, 3 Hours and most of it was spent either with a WTF face or laughing my ass off.
