I get you too man, the movie is absolute great genius, and so is mostly anything by Miyazaki. My favourites? Princess Mononoke (absolute BRILLIANCE) and Howl's Moving Castle (incredibly tender)

But the Ghibli studio filmography is so extensive and I have so little time to go into it that you should probably look deeper into it than just my reccomendations.

Someday, I swear I will

Grave of the Firefly. not sure if it's Miyazaki but it says on the box it's 'from the creators of Spirited Away' and is AMAZING...but, be warned, it is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sad!

Princess Mononoke. In my opinion, that's his best. But, I'm not really that into anime anymore, so don't trust my judgement too much on this.
Ugh, bloodiest thing I've ever seen. Good, still, the whole thing was amazing, but it was just... ugh. I saw it when I was too young to have seen that, but now I can handle Hellsing. I'll have to find it somewhere online, along with Spirited Away. Totally forgot what that movie was about, other than her parents became pigs, there was a guy made of tar, and some weird old lady.

I can offer you a book: Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance
One of the best books I've read this year. Nice to see a mention of it here.

What exactly is it about? I didn't get it.
There's nothing to "get" about it. Unlike Disney movies, there is no underlying message or lesson to learn; it's just a wonderful fairytale. There are a lot of growing of age memes to be found throughout the movie and everyone reflects upon the ties to their own childhood in different ways.
Besides the struggle between man and nature and their inability to find a balance between the two, right?
I don't think so. If that was a theme of the movie why was there only one memorable elemental based spirit? The few others were just minor roles. At no point did I see Haku and Chihiro opposing each other either, the entire movie they were working together.

If you want something darker and less happy, try "Grave of Fireflies" from the same studio. Be forewarned: This film makes Chuck Norris cry.

That film is so depressing I bought it expecting it to be like some of the others from Ghibli...oh I was mistaken I was in tears by the end of that film. I didnt feel too great for a few days after either.

I have seen the majority of their films but I would say my favourite Ghibli films are Spirited Away, Howels Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke and My Neighbour Totoro. They all have their own certain charm you dont get it a lot of Western films.

Yeah, its the kodama! One of the forrest spirits and such, it's awesome. And I do reccomend looking it up now that you can handle the gore, it's rather tame when compared to something like Helsing. I've also heard good things about Grave of the Fireflies. Sad, but good things.

Way back in 2002 I remeber my dad taking me to see a movie called spirited away, now I was only 8 or 9 so at the time I didn't understand the movie and it was my first exposure to japanese culture, I liked the art but after leaving had no clue what happened, though recently while in tesco, I saw the movie in a bargin bin, immediatly recognised it and bought it. After watching this I want to kill my childhood self, it was beutiful, moving and just a pleasure, now I want to ask if anyone else could recommend another movie from Hayao Miyazaki it would be greatly appreciated and if anyone could tell me of a similar experience, thanks
wouldn't killing your past childhood self...........................make you a time paradox?

Nope. Kills his younger self, it doesn't grow up, so it can't go back and kill itself. Because of this, nothing happens, and the child remains dead.

Porco Rosso is my personal favourite. Also, never watch the dubbed versions. subtitles are always best.

Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind is a fantastic film, the Manga books are even better and was written and drawn by Hayao Miyazaki the creator of studio Ghibli.

I can't remember its full name at the moment but it was called Somthing: Castle in the Sky.
One of my favorite Miyazaki movies and I hate myself for not being able to remember the full name of it. Also Kiki's Delivery Service was a good one.

Howl's Moving Castle is rather good :)
I saw half of that in a language I understood only partially and still loved it, so it's either awesome or I have very low standards.
