So I just bought the new Xbox slim and I am quite pleased with it but I've been hearing a lot of mixed reviews from friends and online stuff so i was just wondering what other escapists thought of it?

Is there any actual difference except the obvious hardware ones?

Got it too. I'm loving it. Don't really know why everyone is calling it Xbox "slim" though. It is pretty great, It was easy to get my old hardrive transfered, connected to live without a hitch, and Netflix is a lot faster. Oh and it bings when you turn it on and open the tray.

But does it still grind your discs into useless chunks of plastic if you do so much as breath on the xbox wile its in use?

I want one as I have heard they have better fans so I would love to be able to afford one. Other than that I don't know of any major reason to get it over the original. I would say it it an improvment though

So, yeah. If this thread catches on I'm gonna get crap for this.
My life now has a purpose!

(no worries, I won't tell. This stuff happens.)

I will probably get one when/if my 360 breaks and we still haven't made next-gen. To me it sounds like the 360 should have been AT THE START.

um, ok. So did you want me to 'console' you or something?

--see what I did there--

OT: Congrats. Now sit down and play some games and come to your own conclusion.
Tip: Do NOT move your 360 while playing a game if you value your disc.
Also, keep your warranty card and helpline number at hand ... I hear these things break down a lot.

I like it, got one on release.

It supports wireless-N, which is real nice.

Also, the controller is nicer as well.

Its also cheaper than the Elite, so I see no point as why not to get it.

Although purchasing a new HD chord may be redundant, but just steal one from your elite if you must.

I just come bank from the bank where I accidently knocked Bill Gates over. He didn't notice as he was way to busy laughing his head off for no apparent reason. Maybe he won the lottery or something.

J/k, hope you enjoy it and may it live a long and happy life :)

I don't know, I don't tower the console and I don't move it around when it's in use.

I traded my old one in for this. I was out of space on my old 20 gig harddrive, and the old one was making those "the fan has just inhaled a gigantic dustbunny" sounds, so before I got the old RROD I traded it in.

It seems okay. If I didn't have a machine on the brink, I wouldn't have gone out of my way to get one. I really hope it lasts a while. The larger hard drive is nice, but I don't use the wireless to get online, so that is not very useful to me.

The binging and case, it's strange but it sure seems like they are trying awfully hard to mimic the PS3 for some reason. I find it funny that the 360 switched to a shiny black case with chrome, just as the PS3 switched to a matte black case sans chrome.

Really, functionally it is pretty much the same as my old one. I don't have a problem with that. I just got it to play my 360 games, that's what it does, so I'm happy.

I have a 20 Gig model now and was thinking about getting the new model. How was transfering content? Is it easy to do with things like saves/dlc/arcade games etc?

I have a memory card, which the new one doesn't take. But, I was able to use a USB flash drive to move everything, no problem. I didn't use the transfer cord, but you can go that route as well. The USB I had, the transfer cord I did not.

I have DLC, XBL games and saves. You can use up to a 32gig flash drive, but if you're like me, a 16 gig fits everything from the old 360 on it.
