Today I got the red rings of death, I don't want too send my console away for 3 months, and I want to know if there is any solution to this problem (temporary or permanent)

Any help would be appreciated.
The days of 3 month waits are done, it took a total of 8 days for me to get my system back. I sent it out on a Monday, had it back the next Tuesday.
my friend gort it recently, he had to wait 3 months, maybye its different where I live, and I don't know how to find the error number.

I sent mine away after a red ring and got it back within the week repaired for free.
Why does nobody else ever get theirs repaired?

That is VERY rare noadays from the people who I know and probably a good portion of the folk on these forums. For error number, when you power on the Xbox 360, how many flashing red lights do you have?

Theres no need to be a fanboy when all he is asking for is help. I do apologize for the swearing though :D
I'm not being a fanboy, I'm just pissed at the 360. I went through 9 of those fucking things in 2 years when I only played it for maybe 10 hours a week.

Call the service line, get the box, ship it back, get a refurb in 1-2 weeks...that's your only option.

I thought it was funny but then again I don't have a 360.

A few friends of mine do however and they too have gotten rrods. First of all, It's not going to take 3 months. It doesn't take two weeks either but it should take less than a month.

One friend of mine was able to fix it temporarily by wrapping a towel around the machine and turning it on for a little bit (do a search for the finer details of the "towel trick") but it ended up breaking again a couple of weeks later. It seems like it would do more harm than good so I would recommend sending it back.

Just please don't buy another one while you wait, that's like rewarding bad behavior.

there is one thing you can do, it doesnt void your warranty, but i have to admit that its a temporary fix unless you want to repeat the process over and over, which i doubt.

its called the towel trick. what you do is get two towels, wrap your 360 in them with the disc tray and rear connector ports exposed, switch on the 360 for 12 minutes, then switch it off for 15 minutes. and hopefully it should work, it has worked for me before but like i said, it was only a temporary fix

I agree that thats a bit harsh but the new models of the 360 hardly ever brake now. But yes i can understand your frustration if you have been through 9 360's.

take it apart, get rid of the x-clamps and replace them with screws and metal/rubber washers. And reapply the thermal paste to the chips under the heatsinks. before u put it back togather plug all the cords back in,leave the fans unpluged, and let it get really hot (it usally takes a few min. to heat up), then let it cool down. put it back togather and it should work. Mine redrings evry few mounths, just reapply the thermal paste if it happens. Go to google or youtube for help.

But the best cure......BUY A PS3

New models? What, the elites or whatever?

The last 3 360's I had where Elites and they broke down quicker than the originals!

But thanks for understanding. At least someone does
