There is also the fact that Homefront was a big failure that didn't sell well.
Why would they associate their movie with that?

You do realize that the original "Red Dawn" was the story of how Evil Communist Russians invade the God-loving and never in any way bad American Midwest right? You do realize that Russia is more likely to be on our side in the next World War than invading us at this point in history, right? You do realize that the idea for "Homefront" was stolen from the Original Red Dawn with Patrick Swayze, only with Korea instead of Russia, right?Jacco said:*Kind sorta but not really spoilers*
The premise they lay out in the credits is nearly identical to the one in Homefront, right down to the news reel montage.
And then they explain later that the NK's used an EMP bomb to disable the electric grid and allow them to land.
THEN ON TOP OF THAT it was co-written by John Millius, who wrote and directed the original Red Dawn and wrote Homefront.
I loved Homefront. And the new Red Dawn wasn't bad. But christ. At least TRY to make some differences. It was even filmed and looked like Homefront!
That was what I thought when I first saw it announced, then I saw the trailer and I swear to God all I could think was "AWESOME, when is Arnold going to start making movies like Commando and True Lies again?" '80's action movies are my favorite genre, and the fact that they are getting remade with better writing and special effects (and in some cases, acting) only makes my nostalgia organ get all hard and goo-covered.Dallas-35 said:I think they should have called the it Red Dawn: The Game because it really reminded me of the 80's classic. I really don't think the remake was a good idea, just a cash grab in my opinion.
I love a lot of the 80's action movies too, but the spark that made them what they were is dead and gone. And personally, I'll take miniatures and green screen over the cheap, cartooney CGI that most movies are using today.Spade Lead said:That was what I thought when I first saw it announced, then I saw the trailer and I swear to God all I could think was "AWESOME, when is Arnold going to start making movies like Commando and True Lies again?"
