I kind of feel sorry for PS3 CoD players right now.

That must suck. If my favorite game was getting hacked to holy Hell, I would be pissed. Also, there's already troll comments from fools who go "Hurr Durr, that game suckz"
Honestly, you'd think differing opinions weren't allowed. I can see why some people like the CoD games, but some smartass will always think everyone who likes it are idiots.

Yeah, I know what you mean. It's too bad, really, but people like being hypercompetitive...play on PS3 and either be a Hacker or Victim, since there's no regulation, or play on X360 and worry about the Moderators cracking down on you the moment you say something off-colored.
...Okay, I'm exaggerating. Still, this might be the first sign that MW2 is on its way to the digital grave, so to speak. About time, if you ask me. If Treyarch could be arsed to use Dedicated Servers, like Infinity Ward couldn't, then Infinity Ward deserves to have its reputation sullied with the anger of legions of players - like me, for example - turned off by the hackers on their servers. *sigh* Still sucks, though. I put a lot of time into that freaking game...

If anything, feel bad for the PC community. They've had to deal with all this crap pretty since the games came out.

That sounds kind of awesome. At least from a distance.

I don't really see a point to modding or hacking a console/Pc game. I really don't. Do these people suck -that- badly at it that they have to drastically alter things in their favor? o_O I'm no gaming God in any sense of the word but for cryin' out loud..it's just a game!

Really? I'm tempted to toss in my copy of Modern Warfare 2 just to see if this is true, but I'm pretty much tired out of online shooters. MW2 had the best one for my tastes as I could play as a stealth sniper and a damage sniper, but it got old after a while. And Black Ops...never got into Black Ops' multiplayer. Now the Zombie mode, let me tell you...

I own both MW and MW2 on PS3 but I haven't played either since Black Ops was released. However, MW on PS3 used to be over run with glitches in it's prime so this doesn't supprise me that IW have just given up.

My solution: reset EVERYTHING!

To be honest MW1 & 2 are the last games I'd play, there are far better games out there anyway (IMO). I have MW1, got it in sale, purely for split screen, and I've played it once if that.

But it should. People like these have to be lined up and shot dead, seriously.

Not that i play any of these games.

Right now, multiplayer CoD on PS3 is an absolute shambles. Modders have overrun MW and MW2, to the point where it is nearly impossible to find a clean game. Players are finding themselves thrust into unplayable matches, where care packages rain from the sky, desert eagles shoot nukes and people move at super speed. Worse, players are finding their stats reset, their hard-won unlocks removed, their ranks zeroed out. And players can't quit from those games, because the in-game pause menu has been disabled.

The thing that gets me about this whole situation isn't the existence of the hacks and mods, but rather Infinity Ward's response (or lack thereof) to them. They've basically thrown up their hands and said "it's Sony's fault." While there is plenty of blame to pass around, I think the lion's share of it lies squarely on IWs shoulders. They failed to implement basic security protocols to ensure legit players are not affected by mods, and now they are seeing the results of that failure.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is, right now, if I owned a copy of MW2 on PS3 (which I don't; I own it on 360) I would be enraged, because right now the multiplayer portion of the game is borderline unplayable. As it is, all I can do is comisserate with my PS3 brethren.
I'm thinking the reason that IW hasn't done anything about it is because nobody works there any more.

Fourzerotwo has updated his post [http://www.infinityward.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=371760&start=0] addressing the hacking issues on the CoD boards. He has this to say:
Update: I just left a security meeting with the coders here at Infinity Ward where we discussed a lot of solutions. I feel good about the meeting, but of course I can't go into detail on the possible solutions we discussed as we don't want to give out any information that could potentially hinder the security any further.

Once I have more information, I will post it here.

The key factor I want you to know is, that while any update takes time, we are looking to make the process as quick as possible and nothing is being left unattended.

Our main focus right now is on:

1) Preventing hackers from affecting legitimate players.
2) Addressing users who have already been affected.
It's nice to see they are having meetings about it, but rather more action is required at this point, I think. And it's deplorable that, nearly two weeks after the hacking problems first began, they are only at the fact-finding meeting stage. They should be moving with rather more urgency and haste, in my opinion.

Don't feel sorry for us, I never played CoD's multiplayer anyway and I haven't even played a COD game since I beat MW2 in six hours (or was it five?)

For me Modern Warfare 2 is heavily modded but when I play COD4 I havn't encountered any mods or hacks so far. Although in one match I was doing really good and one of the guys started yelling into his mic calling me a hacker and quit. It was pretty funny.

But yeah we stillhave Black Ops which isn't hacked and in my experience COD 4 seems pretty safe.

I think that there was a similar problem with modders back when I played Halo 2. I knew this guy who just modded his entire game, even to the point of making warthogs fly, and an infinite ammo, automatic fire, tracking brute shot, that only he had. Yeah, he got banned within a week.
Due the the power of Bungie's mighty BANHAMMER!!! ^^
