Yeah, I said it, and I will say it again. I hate that term because 9 times out of 8 when someone says it, they weren't ninja'd the replied to a hour old thread a few pages and realized they said something someone else said on page one when the thread was fresh.

Now if you were truly ninja'd and someone said the same thing as you half a second before you, and it was an original thought, then I'm fine with it.

So discuss how you hate ninja'd or other terms.

I really don't think the term Ninja'd should be used at all...unless you have a shuriken embedded in your spine or, are seconds away from falling into a pile of meaty slices, Fist of the North Star style (well...Rei style).

I would second that in a counsel meeting.

OP ninja'd what I came to say.

I've never given the term much thought so I'm neutral.

I don't mind the phrase and I have been known to type it a couple of times. There isn't really any kind of slang that bothers me that much to be honest, as long as I find it understandable.

I dont honestly care if I see it, though I had had someone quote me once and say they ninjad me (and it was like three pages and five days back, though it wasnt here) so I quoted them and blew up on them about it.

... But they were being a jerk, so I was jusitified.

I've always felt that a better term would be "pirate'd", I always thought they were more... appropriate to the subject matter somehow.

[sub]...what with all the felonies they're supposed to be a byword for...[/sub]

Depends. Maybe some people are in my position, where i largely post from work. Quite often i'll begin a response to a thread, then get interrupted by actual work i'm being paid to do, and only finish my post minutes or hours later.

I just wish people would use it based on its original definition, instead of just to mean 'someone said it first'.

That is, ninja'd use to specifically mean that the post you were making was made before you, WHILE you were writing the post. Since it hadn't been posted last time you refreshed, you didn't know it was there, but as soon as you hit post, it appeared out of thin air above yours making your post redundant.

It's a good meaning, and a cool term. Using it the more common way is much less cool.

I don't mind it (hell, I use it occasionally), but only if it is used with the EDIT proviso (which technically, it should be) or in an obviously humourous way.
