I've only just picked up what seems to be an awesome game, but I have to ask before I dig my teeth in. I've been told by many people that this game is hard and unforgiving so what is the best plan on my first play through?

Unfortunately due to the shitty game design in Dead Rising, the only way to effectively beat it is to keep starting over and levelling up. It's really lame.

To make it easier on yourself, find an area where dynamite and chunks of meat spawn, I think you can get 2 dynamite and 2 meat chunks just outside the hotel area just dig about for a few minutes.

Combine them for an explosive chunk of meat that can be forced into a zombie's mouth, do this in the middle of the very dense crowds there and that is a shit load of PP when it kills them all. You can do this twice in about two minutes and just reload the area by hopping in the hotel over and over.

This can net you around a max of 40,000PP if you get it right every couple of minutes and once you get the card with the bonus PP for this combo that can get up to 80,000 if you are damn good at getting it right into crowd.

Max level in barely any time at all, started the story at Lvl 45 :D.

I think they were referring to Dead Rising 1. DR2 is not that hard, I picked it up this winter and only played the first one for a few days when it came out.

Biggest tip I can give is, don't go for 100% completion on your first try. Saving Katie and doing the main story line should be no problem but getting all the achievements and rescuing all the survivors is almost impossible on the first play-through.

My advice, have as much fun as possible on the first play through. Don't take it seriously and just explore/zombie murder to your hearts content. Oh and Gems+Flashlight=LIGHT SABER!

You just need to level up to about 20 and find out how to make the best weapons like the knife gloves. and if you want to have a but more fun, play with a friend. Just make sure he isnt a dick and will actually help you

this is true for Dead Rising 1 however dead rising 2 fixed this problem (mostly) my first playthrough I leveled up to 4 or 5 until I screwed up and had to restart, on my second playthrough I easily beat the game including the majority of the psycho's.

my best advice would be to stock up on PP as quickly as you can, the game can be quite frustrating when you first start out, but when you upgrade your inventory you'll be able to carry more health items.

you also don't need to waste money on the zombrex or whatever the shot for your daughter is called, often the game will hint that you can find a shot of zombrex if you complete certain objectives (DO THEM!)

some other tips: the sledgehammer + the axe is one of the most powerful weapons in the game, and all the parts you need for it can be found right after leaving the safehouse. rescue a lot of survivors early on, they give a huge PP bonus and they are nowhere near as dumb as the survivors in dead rising 1 were.

Just have fun.

I played through the first Dead Rising, which is a horribly uncompromising and unforgiving game, and complete the story mode, save most of the survivors, beat all the Psychos and see the entire Mall complex. Honestly, if you mess up just keep going and do something else in the game.

Most people will say start over an reply and reply, you don't have to. Take advantage of co-op. Me and a buddy beat the whole game together at very low level. Also if you're strapped for cash play TIR, you get a lot of money and it's to fun play the crazy multiplayer mini-games.

Carry around nail-bats and defilers. Defiler=fire axe + sledgehammer.

The best healing items are mixed drinks(avoid randomizers).

Try to avoid boss fights until you get a decent amount of health and the dodge roll. Cases to avoid for now would be: "Chuck the Role Model", "Tastes Like Chicken", and "Here Comes the Groom." These are all boss fights, and are pretty tough.

1. Find a tiger called Snowflake
2. Tame said tiger
3. ????
4. PROFIT!!!

Use the knifegloves. They are pretty badass. Get a shotgun or two to use on the psychopaths, there is a hunting shop on...[Google search]...the second floor in Palisades Mall, with sniper rifles and grenades as well. Also, when it's available after various key buying, boss killing and such, tape a rowingoar/chainsaw to a motorbike and mow through zombies outside for loads of PP.

Make a hack device by combining the torch and the computer case and use it on every ATM you find, This way if shit hits the fan and your out of medicine you can buy some. (or lots!)

It's incredibly cheap but during the boss battles (and normal play) the drop kick does good damage and makes you invincible for a short time. Was able to get the very best ending with this and didn't need to restart the game.

Combine Bowie Knives (I think) with the Boxing Gloves to make yourself an amazing set of claws (they're essentially the aforementioned Defiler on steroids)

Combine Bow+Arrows with Dynamite. Problem solved, forever. Defiler or whatever custom built melee weapon for everything else, including most boss fights. Except the last one, bring that one revolver you get from the sheriff psycho dude.

Dead Rising I & II really come down to fuck around until you level up enough to finish the game.

It's kind of mix of old and new style games. Repetition is a huge part of the game. You'll figure out strategies to deal with boss fights and what-not and you'll get a bit further in the game each time you restart. I think the first game takes six hours to finish (and I assume the second is the same), but you'll get hours and hours of fun out of trying different combos and just wading into sticky situations for the hell of it.

And fucking seriously, I've got to sit through a fucking ad to get to the stupid anti-spam code now?

Thanks for all the help (and more if it comes), I'm basically noshing through zombies with meat + dynamite right now and saving survivors right now. Fun as fuck!
