Meh, cod is ok, I don't get to eat it very often though. I'm not too much of a fish guy, but when I do eat it, it's usually salmon.
And I like FFVII and JRPGs not that there is anything to hint towards that on my profile but I don't make a thread about loving FF VII or JRPGs like it is a big deal. Nor do I feel hard done by by the opinions of some people on this site. Why should CoD be any different? Also what is stopping you from making that thread?Aeonknight said:I do enjoy the lack of sweeping generalizations that are stuffed into every other thread besides this one.
For those saying shit like "yea whatever don't care", you're not fooling anyone. You know exactly what kind of posts the OP is refering to that would prompt him to make this thread. The ones that are prevalent around 90% of this website. The ones similar to what Anthraxus posted that got him suspended (obviously without the inflammatory language.)
And CoD's not the only one. I'm almost tempted to make a thread saying "I like EA. And not Valve" and wonder how many of you will tip toe around the point.

You wanna buy the same game every year with very minor tweaks, that's your business.
I think you just helped me figure out why I have grown to not like the CoD franchise but had a love for MW. Besides the obvious one where I hated what I had become swearing at the screen every two seconds since MW2 on.RJ 17 said:I doubt it, they need to go backwards and get back to the simplicity of COD4: Modern Warfare. That's why the first MW game was so great: you didn't have to worry about 700K things in the sky that can kill you before you know you're even dead. You could actually build a class without saying "Yeah, it looks good, but I'm gonna be getting my ass blown off by killstreaks." The newer games have made the stealth perks almost a necessity...without them you're just asking to get killed.GangstaPony said:Call Of Duty 1-4: Some of the greatest games of all time worthy of being called Classic

The original MW was just so pure. It required MUCH more skill to be good at it than these more recent games. As I said, this is quite specifically due to the fact that the recent games have gone nuts with the killstreaks. "Not good enough to kill your way to a chopper as you'd have to be in the MW? Well don't worry, we'll give you a perk that makes killstreaks 1 kill cheaper. On top of that we'll give you damn good killstreaks for getting 2, 3, and 4 kills!"Krion_Vark said:I think you just helped me figure out why I have grown to not like the CoD franchise but had a love for MW. I remember my first time through all I did was snipe so getting my kill streaks up high was pretty damn hard but I loved it. Just sitting in one spot setting up my claymores for defense and then just shooting people. So the low kill streaks I could get on for sniping but adding in the nuke was just ridiculous as well as a lot of other ones. I also got adding in high kill streak rewards because some people just didn't get killed often. But the kill streaks did get ridiculous and have killed a lot of the fun I had with MW2. I actually have never bought a CoD game I got them as gifts or my brother has bought them.RJ 17 said:The original MW was just so pure. Seriously, thanks to carepackages and hardline, you're more likely to get killed by a killstreak than another actual player shooting you, and that's why I quickly grew tired of the CoD franchise.Krion_Vark said:I remember my first time through all I did was snipe so getting my kill streaks up high was pretty damn hard but I loved it. That's a pretty faulty generalisation. Just because you don't see Cod games worthy of their price tag doesn't mean the fans don't either and that they have to "bend over backwards". I for one get more bang for my buck with most Cod games than almost any other game I've ever bought. They're pretty much second only to the Elder Scrolls games. The map pack prices are ridiculous, sure, but I go splitsies with a friend and end up paying only about 6 euros for the ones we decide to buy.Andy of Comix Inc said:I feel bad for CoD players and I'm confused that they put up with being expected to pay full price year in year out for their map packs, but if you enjoy a game and there's only one way to get to play more of it I guess bending over backwards'll do. CoD doesn't deserve your money, it doesn't deserve its fanbase and it treats the fanbase it has with disrespect because they can get away with it. But that doesn't make the fans stupid or poor people, it makes them victims of Activision's blatantly pathetic attempt to nickel and dime their consumers.
I think you don't even know it's not called the "Metal Gear Solid" franchise. There were at least three games in the series before Solid came out.Rock-nerd said:Yep, i admit it. I like... Call of Duty. Say what you want but i enjoy something, i don't rub it in your face about it, yet everyone is still hating on the CoD community. You probably see me as some ignorant 12 year old who says "******" over and over on xbox live, but the truth is Metal Gear Solid is my favourite franchise, i love Bethesda games and play mass effect. But if i like COD then i'm a "poor excuse for a gamer" *Facedesk.
So what do you think?
No, Activision treats their fans horribly. Especially on PC, I can't believe there are people that will put up with - and pay - Activision port after shoddy port, the stripping-out of announced features (and the balls to charge full price for map packs anyway!)... Activision are shit dudes, they don't care for you or the franchise, they butchered their most well-payed development house and didn't even give them the time to recover before going on with Modern Warfare 3 like it didn't even happen!Sande45 said:That's a pretty faulty generalisation. Every business sees us as walking wallets. Some just try to hide it because they think that's more profitable for them. You can't really compare Activision to Valve anyway. Other is a developer and other is only a publisher. Of course developers priority is more towards creating a great gaming experience while publisher only aims for profit.Andy of Comix Inc said:No, Activision treats their fans horribly. "Getting your money's worth" and "bending over backwards" aren't mutually exclusive. It could be the biggest game of the year with hundreds of hours of content; it doesn't change the fact that Activision treats you like walking wallets. It doesn't change that they get away with nickel and diming their fans. It doesn't change that they butcher their development houses and expect everyone to just roll along with it. It's unfortunate, because the fans are dedicated people who genuinely enjoy the franchise - that Activision isn't pulling out all stops to please them is a massive oversight when companies like Valve exist that put the customer first and profits second.
