I don't mind cut-scenes, but they should be both skip-able and pause-able. You should also be promted before you skip, because else you could end up skipping it on mistake.

I like it when a cutscene tells the story or gets the point...

I also liked the massive "UPCOMING DLC" blinkers from GTAIV

OH

Do the whole falling thru the floor or garbage unit in F3 count...because those are badass as hell when you expierence those like they are happening...

I am very much an advocate of keeping as much of a game as possible in the form of gameplay rather than simply showing me what is happening. Games are an interactive medium and I think the focus should be on the interactivity, not simply having a movie broken up by sections of gameplay. I feel this is the more immersive approach, particularly for first person games, which tend to be my favourites.

I wouldn't not buy a game based on the number of cut-scenes it has (unless it went massively over the top with them), but I would certainly prefer an alternative approach of some sort that favoured gameplay delivered story.

FO3 is an intersting case as a game pretty much devoid of all cutscenes

however yeah, that bit in point lookout was a blast

I personally think fallout could have benifited not necicarly from "cutscnes" but somthing to give a more cinematic feel as apoated to direct one on one with subtitles conversations (turning them off helps)

that said I understand it a limitation of the engine

anyway at least the cutscene att he start of those games really help you get into the mood

I still think it's a lazy way to convey narrative in a game.

Dialogue sections, like the ones featured in Mass Effect, are fine. But when it goes into full on watching it definitely tears me out of the experience.

Sometimes cutscenes alone are reason enough for me to replay the game.

Like in FF12.
Those were goddamn gorgeous!

I love them, back in the days of Final Fantasy I saw the screen go black, it lasted a little longer then usual. So I knew there was a Cut scene coming up. I put down my controller and just sit back and enjoy the magic.
