So, I was playing Half Life 2 for the first time, and reached the point where you fight the revolution, and I had this one squad, 2 men, 2 women, 2 regulars and 2 medics. We managed to survive for a looong time, me and the 4 random folks. I eventually grew attached to them, and ended up naming The Female medic Joe (Why are you still on the front lines!?), the male one George (Oi, pass me a medpack!), The regular male Bob (Saved me from a headcrab), and the regular female Jane. I did my best to keep all 4 of them alive, when I saw that one of my squadmates died, I actually felt kinda sad.
Eventually, Jane died too, a few more people came and went, but the two medics continued to live on. They followed me as far as they possibly could, and, once we got past that point where we take down a generator with Alyx, and, as we were fleeing, I left through the wall. I looked back, and saw bob get shot in the back. I freaked out, as Joe and this new guy that was at the courtyard. Joe and the new guy then decided (Through some bug) to not follow me anymore. I let lose a goodbye to Jane, and moved foreword.
Now, everywhere I go to, I always spawn a female medic.

So, people of the escapist, who here ever grew attached to their mook/weakling allies in any game?

"mook allies" isn't that an oxymoron?

Anyway, as for actual mooks, out of the random things bandits mutter in Skyrim, one of them is how that bandit will save up money and by himself an island. I love that! I always leave them alive, whenever they utter that line. They are ambitious after all.

Well... Any of the Orks from Space Marine.
Mainly due to my deep love for that entire race. And that most of them could be counted as waling med-packs, of course.

I was playing Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood when it first came out.

I had this one chick who I had leveled up to rank 8. She was my first recruited assassin so I grew a sort of bond with her.

Then, there came the point in the story where we had to storm that fancy dress ball and kill a fat guy or whatever. I felt the battle was going to be super easy so I just called her and another one of my disciples to kill the fat guy and his two guards.

Once the fat guy spotted my two minions running towards him, he called out the heavily armored fuckers.

My minions decided to fight the heavy armor fuckers instead of the fat dude so that gave me plenty of time to air assassinate him.

After the assassination, a cutscene played out, and all of the guards in the area were PISSED. They came rushing towards me so I decided to bail.

What I didn't occur to me while I was escaping was how both of my minions would fight and kill at least 20 foot soldiers without me.

They both died valiantly. :'(

I'm not really sure if this counts, but I name every single wolf I've ever befriended in Minecraft (read: A LOT). :D

I recall I got really really attached to this one Spartan riding a Grizzly in Halo Wars. He died in the last assault holding back a horde of Hunters so the cavalry of Hornets could ride in and wipe them out.
Spartan #2255234827548923927502847828593749271A129838484Q, you will be missed.

He loves you too.

But I can't think of any specific ones immediately, although I'm sure there has been.

Chips Dubbo from Halo

He was the Australian Marine, and had some lines that made him sound like Steve Irwin

He has lived and died several times in the series, participated in several ODST drops and has some of the best lines in the game.

My conclusion is that the UNSC thought he was that awesome that they cloned him and every squad has one.

At the very least I always make sure I have a Chipps Dubbo, riding shotgun, with a rocket launcher.

I hope he gets a posting on the Infinity

Well seeing as they only have names I guess Dragon Dogma pawns count.
I got overly attached to a mage at low level and refused to replace him because we'd been through so much together.
He eventually went back to the void after a freak griffin accident and I decided not to resummon him because I felt I failed him.
I'll always remmeber... crap I forgot his name.

I actually get a bit attached to the guards in Black Mesa. Twice I've had a partner die (one I shotgunned thinking he was an enemy when he popped out form a corner I saw soldiers moving to, and the other ran in front of a sniper) and I had to load back to keep them alive. Perfect record now. But they still hit me more than I was expecting.

I was expecting a Slendy appreciation thread.

On any note, T.K. Baha was great.

Absolutely everybody that you can recruit in Valkyria Chronicles. Seriously, they each have their own dying words! I can't get over losing any of them at the end of a long boss battle. :'(
