Take your time. That's what I'd recommend for basically every genre of game except for MOBAs because I'm wank at them too. But I make up for that by not liking them very much and never playing it. Don't expand so rapidly in Civilization, and concentrate on building and developing your trade routes. Expand only when there's a luxury resource you absolutely cannot do without, or when you're getting overpopulated. Don't have too many workers, because they eat gold. Don't build improvements on non-luxury tiles more than three hexes away from one of your cities because they don't provide any benefit. Keep your roads minimal and your standing army tiny - nothing wins a war like a powerful economy, so just keep enough of a military presence to guard your caravans from barbarians.Randoman01 said:As it says in the title, I love gaming but I am just bad at it. I mostly stick to 4X, Strategy type games and I always seem to think I am doing well but I end up being bad at it. In Civilizations games I go broke if I expand too quickly. Even when I have tons of cottages I am still losing money. In Online gaming I seem to die a lot or get killed. I often think that I am good at games but I am actually pretty bad at them. In League of Legend I will often die a lot and never get any kills. I was wondering what do I do to improve my skills?
In the short time I played League of Legends and Dota 2 I wound up taking whichever lane looked understaffed (usually the top one, for whatever reason) and holding it. If an opposing champion made a move on my lane, I would retreat till I had minion support and then fight them. If they did too much damage, I'd retreat past the turret to heal. If they retreated, I would not pursue, and I think that's the important thing. Think Battle of Hastings. Keep a good defensive position and do not abandon it for any reason. If the enemy side of the lane is clear, sure, move ahead but do it slowly. If you see that your team is getting overwhelmed, don't be tempted to go help. If you're like me and an average player at absolute best, you'll do more good to your team in your lane than rushing over and getting killed in the confusion of their battle. Nothing breaks a concentrated assault like taking advantage of a compromised defence.
