You know, I've never really thought much of forum "friend" lists. To me, it's generally assumed that if you're adding me, you've got some reason for it. I like to think it's because of my [admittedly rare] posts. And, generally, I'm aware of what these reasons are.
However, on the off-chance I have honestly no bloody idea why someone has added me, I'll send them a message more-or-less along the lines of "Euh, why'd you do that?". Not because I'm trying to insult them or indicate that I don't like them, simply that, I like explanation and order in my world. Thus, if something doesn't make sense to me, I like to have it explained. As such, I ask for explanations.
For the record, no, I honestly have not received, as best my knowledge, any "friend" requests simply because I am a moderator. I'd put this activity down to the fact that I tend to not post that often [see: this being my 3000[sup
]th[/sup] post in over 3 full years here]. I tend to be honestly surprised when anyone actually knows who I am if they don't frequent the Escapist IRC channel [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/chat/].
That being said, I completely understand your social fears about adding someone as a friend, [user]DoPo[/user]. It is common to worry that someone has misunderstood your intentions, especially when they've been lingering for a while. It is completely logical, to me. As such, I find this thread to be a nice touch, especially considering the vast number of requests you sent out, supposedly.
Having said all of this, I truly appreciate the friendliness that your OP embodies. It certainly adds... something... to the holiday spirit. The fact that you did go out and add people that you enjoy seeing around, speaking to, and appreciate sharing the forum with. The fact that you wrote this out as explanation for these roughly 65 people. And, of course, the fact that you have gone out of your way to get over a fear. And the fact that all of this was done in such a positive manner... [small][Granted, more discussion value could have been added... Though, so long as there are people responding intelligently whilst on topic, your thread has discussion value, does it not?][/small] This. This is much more the spirit I like seeing around the forums. Please continue.
As such,

DoPo, you have Empireth's stamp of approval for this thread. Not that that really means much.
