As yahtzee said in his Mercs review 'I might need it later' i have devised a thread idea not complete original but fuck it i say.

Any who when have you said this to yourself 'I might need it later' because i say it more time then a Teacher Curses behind the classes back.

Dead rising 2- i had a Shot gun 1 bullet and i through i will hang on to it and see if i can find a pitchfork to combine with it i walked around with that shotgun through nearly 2 whole cases at one point i had a pitchfork but i was brought into a psycho battle instead in which my pitchfork Lassoed of me by some dumb Pig Rapist judging how many times he said 'PIGGGY' and 'Im the big Man'

when the Pig Rapist had one tiny bit of health left i used my shotgun on accident i was rather annoyed.

Fallout 3 - i got the Fat Man and i carried it around for so long it my inventory i nearly had to start giving it presents due to attachment issues. eventually i did use it on a deathclaw after holding that gun for so dam long i brought the gun out i aimed and i died painful death i was too close and i ended up selling the Fat man and guess what i see next a Giant Super Mutant Fan Fucking Tastic.

So what were your tales of 'I might need it later'.

Fallout 3. Im on the 360 and I have 1000 fat man nukes and over 10,000 pieces of enclave armor and wepons from the 3 months I was waiting for broken steel. You never know when there is going to be a super mutant behemoth invasion would come.

Every single air strike in Mercinaries 1/2. Was so worth it when I beat the story campign and just essentially nuked an entire city slowly. Good times.

I held a rocket launcher for an enitre level in Reach, only to use it to pass some zelots and run smack dab right into some hunters. Dammit, all that was said before me head caved in under a huge piece of steel.

About every single object that is less common than pebbles, I will do my best to keep in my inventory, if only to sell it later.

For example I was collecting those tech-orbs (Or Lums, as I like to call them) in Enslaved long before I knew what they were; but they looked significant, so I guess it is justified.

Dragon age: every potion bigger than tiny saved for as long as possible.
Mercenaries: never used a air-strike unless specifically told to.

Any items that aren't weapons that do damage to enemies in the Final Fantasy games.
I always think "I should save this for the boss at the end" but then I always end up just leveling up to make sure the boss doesn't kill me so I never need those items and I never sell them because I keep thinking I'll need them again at some point.

Well Oblivion and fallout 3
I have a problem with limited inventory and useless in game items
I could not resist stealing all the little nick knacks like forks spoons bowls and other useless things.

It ruined those games for me.

I did exactly the same, actually. I always carried a Fat Man with me, and collected every mini-nuke I saw. I also kept a missile launcher with a fat stock of ammo, in case I ran into something that needed to be exploded. I think, during the entire game, I probably only used them in combat three or four times. Not so much "I might need it later" as "This is too powerful to waste on these wimpy little bitches", even once my character was at the point where he could walk up to a Deathclaw and punch it in the nuts without even breaking a sweat. What the hell did I think I was saving the nukes to fight against, God? Such a waste.

My house in Megaton is also full of heavy weaponry, ammo, armour and various cool items like the ninja suit or Jingwei's shocksword, even though I never use them. I just don't like to throw them away in case I ever go back to it.

Ditto, except for me it was "saved for ever". I was a mage, so I had so many damn shields nothing ever really hurt me, and I kept a second mage in my party for extra damage/healing. My potions never got used, they just kept piling up and up and up, though I never sold them.

Lyrium potions, however, are the opposite (in Awakening at least). Some of the boss fights involved chugging back tons of lyrium potions to keep casting my strongest spells, so I was glad I'd been hoarding them.

I can't believe no one posted this [a href="http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TooAwesomeToUse"]link[/a] yet!

So, from what I can recall, every Megaelixir on any Final Fantasy / Kingdom Hearts game. I save them all to the final boss so I can only forget I have them when the time comes...
I'm sure there's more examples but that's the only one I can remember so far.

I'm the kind of person who ends up hoarding a huge stock of ammo, and then realises at the end credits that maybe, just maybe I should've been using it on the boss.

In WoW my old characters have banks full of old armor and fun items that I just couldn't bear to sell. Was a happy day when they made pets and mounts into spells instead of items - soo much free bankspace!

I'm bit better at not hoarding everything, but I will hoard most weaponry til bosses. ¬¬

Potions.

In Diablo2, I have extra rows of potions in my inventory so I don't touch the 16 bottles in my belt - because they're obviously for emergencies. Especially bad with rejuvination potions.
Same, but less so, with town portal scrolls. I have TWENTY in my tome, but pick up a 21st to use, IN CASE I RUN OUT. wtf!

In Oblivion, all those stat-boosting and invisibility/feather/chameleon potions. They might come in handy! If I find a situation where they might come in handy... I don't use them, cuz they might be more handier next time!! wtf!

TitanQuest/Torchlight I have 2 stacks of health and mana potions on me. I start a 3rd one and use that, and only that. JUST IN CASE! wtf!

I totally don't do that with ammo. If a gun is awesome, I use it until it's empty.

Oblivion is an exception. I'm lvl14 now and still using iron arrows, all while stockpiling steel, dwarven and silver arrows at home. wtf

Haha, I often use the simplest of my guns on bosses, simply because I don't I am comfortable with that gun, even when I have hundreds of nuclear missiles or something of similar strength that I could use.

That being said, I tend to go all out on the final boss.

Gears of War- Grenades or the Hammer of Dawn. I never like to use them up unless absolutely necessary.

I only used my fatman 5 times and my mirv once in fallout 3. 3 or those 5 times were those damned albino rad scorpions that don't die, the other 2 were behemoths. Let's say old onley was "bugging me" when I pulled out the Mirv.

The alien blaster in Fallout 3 was a gun I would only use in the most dire of circumstances like against deathclaws or albino radscorpions.

In Fallout 3 I hoarded so much ammo and guns. I felt like if I didn't have extra guns my guns would break and if I didn't have more than enough ammo I'd run out. The first time I played through Fallout 3 I actually got to the point that I only had a nightstick from the beginning of the game and I had no other ammo... and I died. So from then on I stockpiled to much ammo that I never ran out.

You described my Diablo 2 experience perfectly.

Pretty much any item in a game that is really good and there are a finite number of them. I just never use them. Another Diablo2 example, I never once used the 'imbue item' quest reward, as I was sure I'd get a better item to imbue in just a few minutes. Also, charge-based items in Baldur's Gate.

For me this applies to every game ever made in the history of anything... ever.

For example, my Fallout 3 character has a perfect condition Fat Man and about 15 mini nukes sitting in his cupboard.

I collected literally, everything possible on Fallout 3. Made me hate the game so much, and all I ever used was the Lever Action Rifle and the Tesla Cannon.

An idiot am I.
