I missed the Leonardo Bro-Hug

After recently getting a PS3, I started playing Assassin's Creed 2 since I had a lot of catching up to do in the Assassin series. So far, fucking love it. Ubisoft did an excellent job with Leonardo da Vinci's character, by far my favorite character so far. I can't help but love how he's like Ezio's best bud ever. :D

So I just had a rousing adventure with him on our way to Venice, and by the end of it all I get a cut scene of the two saying their goodbyes, no doubt another year before they see each other again. As he held up his arms to give me a hug, a pink square flashed in front of me. I missed the hug quick-time event, and now I feel awful.

I was surprised when I went online and found out that a lot of people missed this as well, sharing my feelings to the point of actually replaying the entire game up to that point. Has that ever happened to anyone else in a game? Something happens that just makes you feel awful, almost to the point of actually replaying the game over again just so you can fix your mistake?

Oh, I missed that too. It made me sad... even though I knew it would have no effect on the game. I think it was put there by the devs to cause anguish to their unwitting players and hasten the process of destroying their souls... or something.

I didn't miss, maybe it's cause I teach my consoles discipline and obedience.

I surely hope you don't mean replaying the whole game just to give Leo a hug... I just reloaded, last save wasn't far from that point. Though being a tourist led around the city again was a *****...

Usually if I get something wrong that I actually wanted to get right, I'll just say 'scratch that' and reload from my last save point, as I save often enough. The only game that didn't make me do this is Heavy Rain, for some reason that game made me want to stick with my decisions, whether I screwed them up or not.

I haven't played the game yet, even though I got it for Christmas. Reason? I left my Xbox at my univesity home over Christmas, and it got stolen when we were broken into. I was still in my hometown at the time, eagerly looking forward to playing my brand new shiny copy of AC2 when I got back to university (hey, it beats learning stuff... ;D). And then I found we'd been robbed...

Anywho, the replacement from the insurance only came through about a month ago, since we were unfortunately delayed making the claim for some reason. And since it was exam period, my parents (who it was delivered to) refused to bring it and my other replaced stuff (games, CDs, etc.) up to my new town for me, instead making me wait until this Sunday when I go home for summer. Which I can understand, and it gives me something to look forward to :D.

Anyway, I'll have to watch out for that quicktime event. I know that I was such an achievement whore in the first game that I made a point of keeping an eye out during every cutscene so I could get the achievement for pressing X on my Xbox controller every time a glitch appeared in the 'death' scenes. Never missed a single one, either :D. Though I did end up spending hours with a GameFAQs printout going through every single flag location in turn in the Kingdom because I missed a single flag. Took bloody ages to find it, too. And now I have to do it all again to get that achievement back, since my hard drive was taken along with my console... (not that the thieves could use it, idiots that they were, they forgot to take all the cables and stuff too, so they were just left with a brick ;D).

Yeah I felt bad. And reloaded. And I hugged that man.
How? For my version, it saved immediately after the scene ends. I stopped playing after that happened and tried to reload but it sent me back to right after the scene takes place. Seriously, I had to stop playing because I was so pissed...

It sucks that a game that seems to touch many people emotionally would pull this kind of stunt where many people would miss the opportunity.

That's some pretty good trolling, I'd say.

Same thing happened to me. I was talking online as the cutscene played and wasnt holding my controller. As soon as I saw the square I jumped at my controller but was too late. Felt awful, reloaded, and hugged that bastard.

You're a terrible person.
Nah, just kidding. I paid a lot more attention to the QTE's after nearly missing the hug.

That's the one I'm talking about. I just got to that point tonight. It all happened so fast that I didn't even realize what had happened before the cutscene ended. You know, the original Assassin's Creed allowed you to exit the Animus and reload any memory. Now, why is it, in the game that doesn't allow you to do that, do they pull this shit of quick-time events? Granted they don't change anything in the game, but Ubisoft should know there are achievement whores out there, people who feel like shit if they happened to miss even one thing.

They will take your bro-hugs & use them as the opening scene to 20 pages of harcore porn fan comics. & don;t think they're safe if they're siblings.
