our bestest friends in the whole wide world, the Westboro Baptist Church, will be showing up to my neighborhood in few weeks. i'm looking for clever sign ideas. they can be on topic or off topic, either way is fine with me (admittingly i'm just going to play Pokemon the entire time, but it would be sweet to have an awesome sign). i'm also willing to protest next to WBC if the idea is sneaky enough.

The best thing everyone can do is just ignore these people and stop talking about them. Paying attention to them is what lets them do what they do for a living.

I like that one. Just make something that talks about how "Love thy neighbor" is a commandment and "Telling people they're going to hell" isn't. Jesus won people over by talking about the love of God, not his hate.

Honestly, though, there's not really a point, except perhaps to give comfort to whoever they're picking on where you are. (The Reason Rally?) There's no arguing with fanaticism, and nothing will ever change their minds. Hell, they chose their particular brand of crazy over their own family.

As for signs.. I dont know. maybe find a pciture of Joseph's colourful dreamcoat and say God has to be gay to make this.

Actually.. thats probably a bad idea. have the coat, but say "this gay too WBC?"

EDIT
or you could always go with the tried and true fags = [insert picture of cigarette] and stand next to one that has a sign about with the word fags on it.

Oh, that's a good one.

Personally I'd go for the more silliness dressed up as the WBC's own signs (as they're not too hard to copy), as I can definitely see myself marching up and down the sidewalk in front of them with a sign saying 'God Hates Pants' while chanting, wearing a suitable (and legal) pants-substitute. Maybe even in drag just for extra kicks.

I figure as long as I don't accost them and just be sure to be much louder I'm not infringing on their rights to protest.
