Ok, Im not one to ask for help, let alone on the internet, but I really need some help everyone.

To keep a long story short, My girlfriend's dog is doing really bad, to the point where the vet has told her family to put him down. It hurt me deep down when I saw her cry... It seemed to help her when I went there with her when the vet told her family this, but Is there anything else I can do for her?

EDIT: Here is somthing else, She was starting to get over it a little (She is a super strong person, so this should tell you somthing) The vet said there was no hope, he being about 11 to 13 (It depends on who in that family your asking) And his heart is about to go, but her family is taking him to THERE vet, not putting him down, I understand that it is hard to make that choice, but still, and I hope I dont sound cold for saying that.

Comfort her as much as you are able. Be there for her, and stay for as long as you can. Make sure she knows you will be there for her, and continue to reinforce that point. Ask if she needs you to help her deal with anything. When she comes out of this, you two will be stronger for it.

not much, just comfort her and say that her dog's suffering and pain is now over.

Ummm......................be there for her. I know I'd feel like crap if a friend blew me over in a time of need.

Just comfort her. Sit down and watch some movies. Laughter is the best medicine. Keep her entertained so she gets better in a short amount of time.

Not really. You just have to be there for her as she goes through it. Listen to her, be compassionate and remember it is a very difficult time for people when they lose a family pet, they are a family member to them. Best of luck, and sorry for your girlfriend and her family.

Just be there for her. If someone wasn't there for me I'd feel like shit.

Oh, trust me, Im not doing that, shes had that dog sense she was a small child, If you have seen how much she cried, you would know that would be the worst Idea ever.

I cried when my first dog died, it's traumatic. I'm sure you created this thread with good intentions towards your girlfriend, but since you know your girlfriend more than any of us ever will, you should be able to formulate a plan better than any of us should.

Sorry, but shit hurts when things die. Be there for her, let her hug it out, and don't get too depressed yourself to add to the problem.

Dude, I lost my dog a year ago and my girlfriend helped me through it. Best thing I can suggest is not to let her heal herself with you at her side. What I'm saying is don't try and distract her or change the situation. Let her grieve her own way, but let her do it beside you. Let her overcome the issue herself and just do what she needs you to do. There is nothing wrong with asking her what you can do for her. Everyone grieves different and its best to find out how she deals with these situations and help her that way. Some ignore the situation some want to face it head on. All your to do is go along for the ride and be there for her to cry on, encourage her to get out, or whatever she wants you to do. One thing that my girlfriend did for me was help me think of a way to remember/respect my dog when she died (but that may not work for you, but it did for me). Either way be patient this may take a while... and may come back every now and then for the first few weeks/months.
