If you're into hardboiled neo-noir with a touch of the paranormal, I'd pick up the Joe Pitt Casebooks by Charlie Huston. Definitely worth it.

If you've yet to have the extreme pleasure, I would highly recommend A Song of Ice and Fire series. The first book is "A Game of Thrones", and I have been absolutely addicted for a very long time. Lots of intrigue, backstabbing, broken promises, sex, incest, and good old fashioned action. And if over the top action isn't your bag, there's also a great deal of romance and backroom politics. Some of the best scenes occur without a single weapon being drawn.

If I had to elect a series for "Best Book Series Ever", it would be a top candidate. Seriously. Just go get it. You'll thank me later.

If not.... Anything by Neil Gaiman, "American Gods" and "Neverwhere" in particular. They're very cerebral books that will make you think in all kinds of new abstract terms, and they're fantastic if you're a mythology or fairy tale buff.

Enjoy!

Well, some more info as to what you prefer genre wise would be helpful. Lacking that, I like anything by R.A. Salvatore. The Drizzt series is pretty lengthy and new ones are released fairly regularly.

Orcs by Stan Nicolls is good too. It takes the generic roles of humans vs orcs and flips them somewhat.
i will honestly read anything, i like the thought of something new so all suggestions are welcome :)

The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie. Yes, Hugh Laurie wrote a book before becoming House. However, the more you read the more the protagonist becomes House (except not a doctor and no limp).

Try anything written by Dennis Lehane, his books are amazing and clever, if you want a good crime book. If you want some fantasy, I recommend the Black Magician Trilogy by Trudi Canavan, the Wheel of Time series, Harry Potter, Eragon is also a very good book, and the rest of that series, The Nightrunner Series by Lynn Flewelling and Silence of the Lambs

No you haven't, i've only played Halo:CE but i've read every single Halo novel, next time your in a book shop just look at the game novel section and pick one that takes your eye.

Frank Herbert's Dune Trilogy (Dune, Messiah, and Children) for if you like SciFi or Diskworld seems to be the norm around here. The Dresden Series by Butcher or The Sword of Truth by Goodkind are in the Fantasy section.

If you feel like reading something really long, I recommend the Wheel of Time series. 14 books, each one with around 600 pages. I'm right now reading the first book, and it's so far very interesting.

If you feel like something easier, Neil Gaiman is always a good choice. I highly recommend Anansi Boys and American Gods (two of my favorite books).

Some very bad suggestions among this lot. I'll suggest an old series but you should be able to pick them up online. The author is Karl Edward Wagner and his books are based on his hero or antihero Kane. The books are called:
Bloodstone
Darkness Weaves
The Dark Crusade
Death Angels Shadow
Night Winds

Sue Grafton broke me out of my no book reading rut. A rut that I hate to fall into. Robert B. Parker was also a great author (R.I.P.)

I'm a big fan of The Night Angel Trilogy by Brandon Weeks. I Am The Messenger and Altered Carbon are also good reads.
