A solution which would be cheaper than brass, but probably look better and be made easier than wood would be to make it out of clay. I haven't got any idea what it would cost with any of those materials, but best of luck to you!
As for me, well, something tells me that a life size Eva is a little out of the question... since I live in an apartment... and don't have the money. Vincent's pendant from Ergo Proxy might be kind of cool to have.
I hadn't thought of clay... Hmm, interesting....Very interesting.
Yeah, the big problem with clay would be finding a kiln you could use, unless you used oven bake clay. I guess the other problem is that unless you're really good with clay, you've got a limited size you can work with. When you're baking clay in a kiln, it has to be hollow inside, or else it'll break apart during the firing, unless it's fairly small to start with. If you want a big two headed Buddha, then you'd have to be able to make it in a hollowed out form, which, trust me, takes a fair amount of talent. I don't know if you'd have to keep one made with oven bake clay hollow, but because you'd have to bake it in an oven, you'd only be able to make it as big as your oven allowed. Still, it'd be a lot easier to work with than metal, and even if you ended up hiring someone else to do it for you, it'd probably be cheaper than getting someone to make it out of metal (though, as with any commissioned piece, it'd probably still be pretty pricey). I guess that's the one big advantage to wood, is that as long as you can get a big enough piece of wood, then your only limiting factor is carving skill.
Or, if you wanted to be the most amazing person in the entire universe, you could make it by finding appropriately shaped cacti, and grafting them together. And seriously, if you do that, then message me back and I will start worshiping you as a God. And your cactus Buddha as well.
