Do you have COD4? Because really, widely regarded (by me as well) as the best in the series.
If it is just a choice out of those two, I'd say BlOps. Haven't played either, but I haven't enjoyed any of the Halo games I've played... Whereas I love COD4, and do enjoy MW2.

Honestly, the only difference between the two series I've seen is that one is in space. And now I'll probably get quoted with something defending how they are different, but in no way proves anything. They are both generic shooters in my eyes, but whatever.

I'd say Halo just because it is probably cheaper and you won't have to spend $15 every time a map pack comes out (I don't think).
Hey, I remember you ol' buddy! Small world huh?
Weird, I was thinking of you when I wrote that. But yeah, in my opinion, they are still pretty much the same... now off to read that news article about Bulletstorm and PC and seeing how pissed I'll get...
And I still disagree with you, but I'd be a shallow bastard if I hated you because of that. And since this isn't the place for another debate I'll just let it go.
Wanna go grab some bacon then? I'm hungry... :/

You have BC2? As well as the Orange box on PC.
Problems solved bro.
Now wait for the next good fps (BF3) like the rest of us.
Or just spend hours upon hours on TF2 or CSS.
Sounds about right.

Looking at your love for RPGs and depending on your definition of RPG and Shooter, you might really like Red Dead Redemption.
Oh man. Don't get me started on Red Dead. I sank hours into that game, and actually managed to wear it out. Beating a 12-hour game twice will do that to you.

"mutants videlp"?
Oh my.

Neither if you want a shooter either wait for Crysis 2 or F.E.A.R. 3

But if forced to pick my vote would go with Halo since I purchased Black Ops and it was terrible a few good bits though but pretty much sucked in every way

I haven't owned a CoD game since 3.
Well, I had 4 for the DS in fifth grade...

I think Popcorn would be more appropriate, considering that this thread has "Halo" and "Black Ops" in its title and thus has a not-inconsiderable likelihood of erupting into a spectacular multi-sided argument. I'd rather that didn't happen, though.

single player= halo reach

multiplayer= black ops

it's also important to note which is easier to get into and of course cod is easier by a landslide

So far, no-one has started trolling or flaming, though you do lead me to the question
"What have I done?"

The DS? That... That actually kind of sickens me.
Anyway, then yeah, that comes highly recommended from me. It's bound to be cheap in some store around you, and it really is an amazing game. Get it. Much better than BlOps. I'm not sure how the online community is doing though... Haven't played online, Australia, poor connection all that.

Well, at the time I only had a DS and a wii...

Also, I have played CoD4 and all of the games since then, thanks to generous friends who loaned me the games on occasion.

They haven't yet. There's also a fairly good chance it'll remain civil. But Halo/CoD threads have a history of being... unstable.

I'm sure it'll be fine.

Well I really wouldn't call stealth a viable option, but It sounds like you should go with Reach. The single player is better were as BO (while much better than MW2) ist still mediocre in that department. The Multiplayer is quite good, but I've heard that Halo's is just as good (I haven't played Halo's multiplayer though). Also, I think firefight is more fun than zombies.

Well if you have been playing a lot of rpgs and want a shooter mabye you should buy Border Lands its a really fun shooter that you can play with your friends and has some rpg elements like levaling your charecter while keeping it mostly a shooter. and it has 4 dlcs out there.

Well, moreso than in ODST, where even though you had silenced weapons, the engine didn't allow for them not to be noticed by enemy troops.
