Classic. Great song and ridiculous video:

Or try this one. Always makes me smile (and want to dance) at least.

i'll re-explain, he is gay and has feeling for me, i am not and therefore cannot return those feelings. also he wants me to be happy but i consider myself a failure at times since i am currently unemployed and so forth. but yeah so far to no avail on the music. he feels really bad, and well i suck at the helping people cheer up thing.
As someone with experience on the other side of the ball, I'll give some basic advice. Get a job, or at the very least, work toward getting one. If that's the primary reason you consider yourself a failure, and you considering yourself as such is the reason he feels bad, both you and he will feel infinitely better once you're getting income.

Also, since getting a job is certainly difficult in this apparently economic climate, don't be discouraged when an employer doesn't hire you. Just keep trying. The more effort you put into it, the more likely a potential employer will take notice. This is especially important if you recently lost a job, because if you spend too much time job-less, potential employers also pay attention to that.

EDIT: Of course Caramelldansen is what eventually wound up working. Why would I ever think of anything else?

I was totally going to link Caramelldansen too. Right after I seized this excuse to once again pimp Fang Island:

That song always makes me happy. The entirety of The Flaming Lips' The Soft Bulletin accomplishes the same as well.

I find the song Mr. Blue Sky by Electric Light Orchestra to be particularly uplifting.

"You got a friend in me" - Y'now the one, The Toy Story one!

If that fails, He/she is beyond helping.

For me, listening to any old 8 or 16-bit songs from games tends to make me smile. Sonic 1 & 2 tunes and the Tetris them work the best. Sonic 3, LoZ, and Mario music isn't as effective but it still works wonders.
