I need an idea for a film!

This essentially sums up my problem. In one of my classes for college i'm supposed to make a storyboard, write a script, and then film a video of pretty much anything I want. The problem is I can't think of a single good idea and everyone i've gotten from friends have been less than stellar.

I was planning on doing a sketch comedy video, such as the one above. But, as already stated, i'm about as good at coming up with ideas as Princess Peach is at not getting kidnapped.

So any ideas you guys have would be greatly appreciated.

If this is something you're doing at a college level, it's probably something you need to overcome as an issue yourself. It's the same reason I don't use Yahoo! Answers to solve my statistics problems for me, it's not going to help me in the long run.

Make a film of your current situation in film form as in you or some film college guy who can't come up with an idea of what his film story will be about (yes I jsut went there inception style). Sure it's cliche but it's far more relatable to you to write and plan out.

Well it's either that or film about possibility (the choices we make and the repercusion from the result of it).

I gotta hand it to Hal10k - I laughed a lot at this. And it's still funny when I think about it. It has so much potential. Tad crawling through the ventilation shafts of a bank full of hostages, only to flip off the manager and head back. Tad risking his life to reach a person just about to commit suicide...only to flip them off and thus somehow save them from the suicide (or not?). Tad registering on a dating site to get a date with all men/women at the same place only to flip them off. It would be better if he went with some order through it, say in alphabetical order or something.

Film a murder mystery, where every character is a famous detective, so they use all their detective styles against each other, trying to outsmart, outfox, outwit and ultimately outlive each other.

Hercule Poirot, Miss Marple, Sherlock Holmes, Columbo, Jessica Fletcher, Magnum P.I., Inspector Clouseo, and Horatio Caine, in the deadliest dinner party you've ever seen.

I also think the flipping everyone off would be great. I would laugh my ass off at that.

On another note, how about coming up with a "news story," either made up or something that isn't news at all, like (dumb example) the sky being blue, and interview a bunch of people.

When in doubt shout at the top of your lungs while pointing out something obvious. Such as going outside and filming yourself pointing at a flower shouting "NATURE!!!" and just go around filming little snippets of yourself shouting "NATURE!" at the many things that can be found outside.

Probably the worst thing you can do is watch a lot of comedy sketch videos! Watch the news, read trashy magazines, scour the escapist forums, spend time with the more eccentric members of your family and somewhere along the lines you'll read/hear something that's so ridiculous it would be perfect for a sketch.

Or failing that make a video about kittens. If the internet has taught me anything it's that people love kittens.

OP, I've got it. Do a machinima type thing. Maybe a Let's Play like short movie, maybe something else. See if it can give you ideas, since now I can only think of it and can't come up with anything original.
