Hello community,

Like many members before me, I am here to ask your help: can anyone recommend to me a good RPG on the Xbox 360? I am a huge fan of Oblivion and Fallout 3, and also have enjoyed both Assassin's Creeds, so open world would be awesome.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I also have Mass Effects 1+2. Thanks for the reminder alxhrmm.

If you enjoyed the sci-fi elements of Fallout 3, then check out Mass Effect/Mass Effect 2 as they are probably your best bet for something in the same vein. As for the fantasy demons-and-swords slant on the RPG offered by Oblivion, check out Fable 2 - many 'hardcore' RPGers will consider it more of an RPG-lite due to it's simplistic combat system and lack of true depth to statistics and attributes, but is a great adventure nonetheless.

I have a hard time imagining that's a very intuitive game on console despite it being amazing.

If you hate yourself you could try Two Worlds.

If you're a fan of the swords of Oblivion I would recommend one of the Fables, probably number 2 as it's an improved version. It is a bit simplistic for hardcore RPG fans as the combat is incredibly simple, along the lines of this does more damage than this. There is very little element damage. So it is very good game for either introducing people to the genre or just simple entertainment.

The other game/games I would recommend aren't exactly RPG's but they do have great open world play. The first one is GTA4 even though it doesn't have many RPG elements it does have a very good open world. The second one I would recommend is the latest gift from the same studio. The infamous Red Dead Redemption. My friend bought it recently and I have seen first hand the amazing amou t of hours you can sink into that game. again it doesn't have many RPG elements but the open world is simply amazing.

All are very good games and feel free to take your pick of any, all or none of them.

You could try Two Worlds, it's quite terrible but I somehow managed to enjoy it and get 930GS in it.. I still don't know how. If you liked Fallout, I'd suggest Borderlands. It isn't strictly RPG but it has many elements and it's quite fun.

He said Xbox 360.

Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age Awakening are a great game + expansion combination, and are fantastic. Also, Fable 2 is pretty good, and Borderlands is a FANTASTIC RPG/FPS crossover.

I'd suggest pretty much anything from Bioware. KOTOR and Dragon Age would probable be your best choices.

If you can put up with a few bugs I'm really enjoying Risen on the P.C at the moment. I'm pretty sure it was released on consoles too.

If you're willing to play JRPGs then Blue Dragon and Lost Oddysee aren't too bad. Of course if you're up for JRPGs then I'd recommend picking up a PS2 instead because there's an absolute shitload of quality ones on there.

As for WRPG's Dragon Age has already been mentioned, and Oblivion is impressive for the sheer scope of the thing so either one of those would be worth a crack.

Ah, Golden Sun, good times. That game and its sequel were two of my favorites. I feel like there's one for DS now. Hang on.

Aw darn, nothing since its announcement last year.

Is RDR more like a shooter-RPG, more in the vein of Fallout 3? Because I have absolutely nothing against open world shooters.

Red Dead Redemption will feel a lot like GTA IV, but with much better atmosphere, story and characters and PONIES! (seriously though what I'm saying doesn't do it justice, its a great game)

HELL YEAH! I love that game.

But for 360 I would say... Red Dead Redemption?
It's fun but I got bored of it in a week.

I don't know, I have the same problem. I have all of the good RPG's on the 360...
I wish they'd make more.
