Suck on the end of a 12 gauge or throw yourself infront of a train...

...have been tested by various people and didn´t work.

Take a look at TV-Tropes...no matter the mood, you will have forgotten about it over the next 7 hours you´ll be browsing the site, and emerge a happy and more informed person.

The only thing I could say to cheer you up is umm, your not alone in your depression?
I am usually depressed so I know how you feel. :)
When I'm depressed then it doesn't cheer me up that other people are, in fact it drags me even further down.
But I most of the time write poetry or draw a picture when I'm sad.
And when I go into a flux of emotions then I write a story.

Lately I've been depressed, with counciling and the like, due to some reasons I'd rather not discuss. Also there is a rift that is coming between my family. So I turn to you, my comrades of the Escapist. Post anything that you think will cheer me up, please.
This normally helps me:

There is no easy way to cheer up your depression, posting videos may relieve the pain temporarily. Alas the only way to end your depression will be through therapy and other methods. But I guess I could say (like the first comment) that you are not alone, personally I'm not depressed but I often feel sad over many things, probably not as big as yours though.

I guess I will just give you a funny joke to releive the pain temporarily.

Okay so there is a bear and a rabbit taking a shit in the woods, the bear says to the rabbit "when you crap, does the poo stickk to your fur?" and the rabbit replied with "not at all." so the bear picks up the rabbit, and wipes his ass with him.

Sorry for the vulgarity... please admins don't ban me :(

Damn, beat me to it.

Anyway, the best way to cheer up is to relax. Forget about your troubles and your strife's. Put on your favourite films and just sit back and enjoy. Pig out on some snacks, have something to drink (not Alcohol as that just makes it worse) Hot Chocolate perhaps. Maybe even put on a game and some relaxing music.

I recommend against anything like hard rock or death metal... Its not very soothing, a lot of it is angry music and is more then likely going to piss about with your emotions. So try something a little more soothing, not too soothing or too angsty... Otherwise that will exacerbate things.

When I'm depressed or angry, I put on a racing game like Forza Motorsport 3 Where dreams are driven, from microsoft game studios... BY IT NOW!!... Hooray for product placement or something like that, get one of your faster cars and play against the really low level cars so you can't lose or get stressed. Put some music on and there we go, a nice relaxing drive.

Well, you may not agree with this, but just in case you do, I thought I'd say some stuff that keeps my spirits up.

Remember, if the situation looks bad, God will either make it better, or use the situation to make you better. Also, remember that the valleys in life make the hills all the more profound, bad things make the good things seem even better.

Those thoughts keep me going. If they don't work for you, remember that it's only a few short months until Duke Nukem Forever comes out and makes the world a far better place. People of all races and religions will join hands across the nation to celebrate the return of the man who's here to kick ass and chew gum, and is all out of gum. Always bet on Duke.

When things are bad you should always think, 'Well, at least I don't have smallpox'.
Yes, but...what if you do have smallpox?
Well, the last recorded case was in 1975, so unless you've managed to revive the disease or time-travel then I doubt you do.
On the off chance you do though... nothing I can say will cheer you up.
