It would help if you could tell us what a Russ is. What sort of tradition? What does it actually mean? What do people normally do when they are a "Russ"? Answer these three questions and we may be able to help.

Briefly explained here. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russ]

As for ideas.. We didn't actually do much. We had a show, which was hilarious if I may say so myself, and we made a paper about various things in the community and who of us were a part of which car.

In my experience, there weren't many things that were done collectively, but if you're looking for stuff you all can do, there's always arranging a party, or other entertainment purposes. We participated in a bowling tournament, for instance, though that wasn't arranged by us.

Ewww - same overalls for 17 days without washing, seriously? Wouldn't want to get drunk and throw up on the first night. Sounds like some creepy "initiation" stuff that would have probably just alienated the fuck out of me as a student. It's stuff like that which makes it easy to understand why black metal happens. I'm all out of ideas though, my general reaction to stuff like that has always been to stay as far away from it as possible. Especially as I knew a guy who died during an "initiation"-like stunt.

The specifics regarding various requirements differentiate from location to location. I for one, did in fact render myself massively drunk the first night, so I washed my overalls, and none cared. If they would, I'd have no trouble with dismissing them on the basis of my own well being. Basically, the celebration is what you want from it. You don't drink? Sure, that's alright. You don't want to wear the clothes? Go right ahead. Shun the participants' existence? You're of course allowed that too.

For me, those 17 days were a lot of fun, and I wouldn't have missed it.

As for you, OP, I could PM some of our knots if you'd like.

EDIT:

Actually, that's not a bad idea. Nudity isn't uncommon during this period. Some knots include;
- Run naked around the soccer pitch
- Run naked around X amounts of roundabouts
- Run naked around the police station X amount of times

That's the ones we had, at least. And I didn't do them.

I suppose its worth mentioning, this is what we do in america.

Release a baby bear in the school with a sign attached to it that reads "Beware of Mama"
needless to say, you shouldn't actually release a mother bear into your school...

if thats a little too much, find a car [http://artoftheprank.com/2009/05/04/rallying-round-the-flagpole/], go to a power tools rental store (action rental?) rent a welder and a big diamond toothed saw [http://www.stihlusa.com/construction/cutquik.html]. using the saw, cut a car in half and cut a little circle out of the middle, then weld it back together around a flagpole.
