I suddenly remembered a book that I never got to finish, and I really want to read it again but I don't know the title.
The story is about the future where technology to make silver bubbles of frozen time is created. The story takes place after something had destroyed most of society except for people frozen in those bubbles, which only dissolve at whatever time they were originally set for. A small city of survivors from different times are waiting for a large bubble from when a terrorist set off one of them in a major city freezing the entire population.
They freeze themselves in for months at a time until it opens but someone is murdered by leaving her out of the bubbles and freezing everyone else in for a few centuries.
The main character is a detective that was essentially "murdered" by someone he was trying to catch.
