I've reached the point in my life where it seems that not one video game can keep my interest for more than a few days. I've tried many games but nothing is keeping my interest. Could someone suggest some games that might last a long time for me?

I really enjoy sandbox games, first-person shooters, and adventure games. I don't particularly dislike any genre.

WoW, ummm, there is always the option of just going out instead of playing games. Do push ups until you can't anymore, then run, repeat.

How about you go down the opposite road and only play games that last less than a few days? There are plenty of indie games on steam and other such websites that fit that criterion.

Tried TF2 or CS:S? With both of these games at times I've been so frustrated by them I vowed to never play them again. But within a few days I was back at my favorite servers on both.

If you're looking for Single Player I'm really enjoying Borderlands which has aspects of all 3 genres you named and with the possibility of playing co-op on the campaign it looks like it might have some replay value too.

This kept me occupied for so long, but it's lost its appeal to me.

Thanks for the game suggestion, the latter part of your post was totally irrelevant.

Could you list some? I love indie games.

Borderlands. Throw on some music or a audio book and go looking for moar dakka!
I played it once and didn't enjoy it.

I tried both of those but neither of them kept my interest. CS:S did for a bit but not long.

Sounds like you're burnt out on games. Purge yourself of 'em and the internet for a week or two, and you'll feel better. At least, it helps me in cases like this.

Sum up what the majority of your games are/have been like up to this point so we know what not to list.

I'd say go outside your comfort zone. When I find my usual games to be becoming stale, I mix it up with some games that look interesting and I wouldn't ordinarily play.

Like the man says, all things in moderation. Perhaps break out an older console to remind yourself how much gaming has generally come on since then.

I've been playing DotA for upwards of four years now. It has an incredibly steep learning curve and the community is crap, but it's very rewarding once you become good.

Real fucking tragic. I am crying for you. I have not cried in years and right now I am crying out a fucking salty river.
Wait, no, those aren't tears, that is my hate leaking from my eye sockets.

Go back to some of your old favourites. Revisit shit from your childhood that you haven't played in ages. Step outside of your comfort zone and play a genre you wouldn't usually play. Stop playing games for a while and do something else. All are good suggestions.

minecraft, terraria. those are the two biggest timesinks i can think of right now, and they'll even entertain you while stealing your precious time :D
18+ hours into Terraria. I love it. I'm gonna start it up again when I get my laptop back from school.

I like when games are multiplayer so i recommend Minecraft (its fun if you have friends), borderlands (also great with friends), TF2 (since theres more "LOL I CANT BELIVE YOU SLICED THOSE TWO DUDES WITH BACKSTABS USING THAT GENIOUS TECHNIQUE" then "OMG I CANT BELIVE YOU DID THAT HAXOR" like you might find if Halo or CoD).

Cooperative like i would advice l4d2, guild wars or Killing Floor (this last one is both hilarious and the rooms i find are usually with people that just wants to have fun, and doesnt take serious if the team looses... they try to live but dont blame you for dying basicly :3 ).

For me these are my choices.... pick youre poison or search for more through gaming sites or other people :3

Hope i helped ;D

Do you play MMO's? I have the same problem with most games unless they're fucking huge like GTA or TES, otherwise I can only play them for about an hour before getting bored. I can play MMO's all day long though, not because I'm addicted, but because I just really fucking enjoy them and only few games compare.

If you don't already play them, I recommend Guild Wars, World of Warcraft and Rift. They're all quite user friendly, but also very difficult if you want them to be, and like any MMO have tons of content.

Playing a genre you don't play much is a good suggestion as well. I don't really know what to recommend, but Dirt 3 just came out and it looks fucking awesome. It's interested some people I know that don't even play racing games.
