Im hoping there are some REALLY tech savy people here so im asking before I go to an Apple Store.

I have an old ipod i dont use that i would hate to get rid of because of the amount i paid for it; however here is the problem, whenever i try to turn it on it does the begining Apple logo and then just turns off. I have tried connecting it to my laptop and i have tried restarting it, but nothing i do seems to help.

Any suggestions or advice would help...

And please be mature, dont say stuff like "apple sucks" or "what do you expect from apple" etc. etc.

I have a second gen Ipod Touch but I can't really help you. I'd advise you to talk it to an Apple Store or send it in for repairs. Sounds like your battery is shot.

Try holding the home button and the power button down together for ten seconds.
I have tried that, Im not trying to be rude or anything, but that restarts your ipod... i have done that numerous times

That's actually a hard reset. I'm guessing you've also tried resetting it via iTunes?

First try restore with iTunes.

If that fails, sounds like the battery is shot, set it on fire.

It seems to me your battery is dead, considering it's old that is usually what happens.
Since it's an Apple product I presume they don't let you change the battery on your own?
