ok i have fool proof method,

two people stay where the ladder is to go up and go hide in a corner, the other two go up and closet it.

what happens is the smokers and hunters try to get people near the elevator shaft but they cant due to a wall (for some reason) and never try to go for the people on the roof

the only problem is the people up top have to face the tank alone. but it always works for me.

*NOTE* Auto-Shotty works best for this tactic
the people in the elevator shaft CANNOT go up top until the chopper arives

tried this too but special infected spawn in the elevator shaft now

never happened to me, are you staying on the level near the ladder up to the roof or somewhere else cos that may be your problem
