When we were thinking up names for my band, as a joke someone suggested 'Anal Plug' and now we can't think of a proper name. So now we're called Anal Plug until we can come up with something to replace it...

Picking band names is always a bit of a nightmare. I used to have a whole list of potential names that I never used in bands in the past, but i'm dammned if I can find it now.
I always liked 'Not Rocket Science' as a name, but it's now been taken by about a million other bands.
That's the problem in these days of Myspace and such, it's too easy too see how hard it is to pick an original name.
Why not name yourselves after an obscure character from something? Or flick though a medical dictionary - sounds like a weird suggestion, but you can sometimes find a few ideas for good names in them.
Failing that, try random name generators online and see if you get any inspiration.
In the end, it doesn't really matter what you are called - the band makes the name.
You could call yourselves 'pint of milk', and if you are a decent band it won't matter.
Just try to avoid being yet another 'The...' band, haha.
